Jace’s mocking tone slices through me like a blade. The smirk that plays on his lips twists my stomach into knots, and for a second, I can’t even breathe. Hunter’s growl rumbles low beside me, sharp and dangerous. He steps forward, blocking me from Jace’s gaze, his stance rigid like he’s one breath away from losing control.
“Back off, Jace,” Hunter snarls, voice rough with barely contained fury.
Jace only chuckles, leaning lazily against a tree like he owns the night. “Relax, Hunter. I’m just enjoying the view. Didn’t think our little omega had it in her to sneak around in the dark.” His eyes slide to me, glinting with mockery. “What’s this? A secret midnight date? Or are you just begging for attention?”
