"We can sign a contract too." He said, smiling gently. Adeline wasn't convinced. From what Ivy wrote to her, she was already seen in the system as Mr. Prescott's fiancée. It won't be long before the media starts writing about it. In their world it's a big sensation. If their engagement were suddenly interrupted now, and then she appeared at Noah's side... how would people react? Ada had many enemies. She could count the people she trusted on the fingers of one hand. She was already a victim of persecution and assault. If she became such a sensation, her enemies would have a lot of room to maneuver. It would then be easy for the whole town to hate her. She didn't want to be afraid to go out into the street. She already felt unsafe. Noah says he will keep her safe. But she didn't believe it. Now most people have no idea that her marriage is contractual. This may inhibit them. If Mr. Prescott had intervened after she left, everyone would probably have known she had jumped from one contracts to another. After talking to Ivy yesterday about the details of this announcement, she learned that it was very confidential. It was not visible to male or child users. To view the content, you had to purchase a special key. Ada didn't know where Ivy got it from. The lower class had almost no chance of seeing The competition was professionally aimed at users from the upper classes. Most of the applications were submitted by parents and influential people. As it turned out, Mr. Theodore was not the only one. There were hundreds of ads, and only after going further and filling out the form did the billionaire's name become visible. You could submit your entry an unlimited number of times, there was no limit. So in practice, Adeline estimated that about 200 upper-class families might have known that the marriage was contractual. Considering the number of people in her condition, it was not a tragic number. But even more so, with this in mind, she couldn't believe that he had chosen her. ,,Adeline, please stay with me" Noah grabbed her hand as she tried to walk away from him. "I'm sorry Noah, but..." "Think about it, please." He said with a contrite expression on his face. ,,Let's sit down and have a cup of tea, let's talk calmly." ,,All right.." She finally agreed. The maids from the second shift brought them each a cup of warm tea. Ada sat across from him in a comfortable armchair. "Tasty." She said, taking a sip of tea. And that was the last thing she remembered. ... "Adeline, are you feeling okay?!" Noah woke her up. She looked around the room. She was lying in his bed. "What... where am I?" She grabbed her aching head. "You lost consciousness, so I carried you here." Adeline looked at him suspiciously. ,,How did I lose consciousness?" "I don't know, you said you felt bad and..." ,,Did you drug me with something?!" She screamed as she got up from the bed. ,,What time is it?" "Adeline, I would never .." "What time is it?!" Noah looked at her sadly, then raised his wrist with his watch. "It's 8:06 p.m., sorry." He moved closer to her and grabbed her thigh. "Don't touch me" She moved away from him quickly. "Why did you do that?!" "I just want to protect you." He said firmly, pulling her closer to him. She struggled, trying to break free from his grip. "Adeline, please don't resist." He whispered, hugging her. ,,I told you not to touch me!" She screamed, still trying to break free, but Noah's grip was too strong. Then the door to the room burst open. Noah looked away, slowly turning his head. Shock grew on his face. "Noah Vanderlyn, I think you're holding something that belongs to me." The man entered the room. Adeline looked at him confused. "Theo.. what the f**k are you doing here?" Noah threw her on the bed. "Who let you in here?! This is my house!" He shouted angrily. ,,And this is my future wife." He noticed. "This is nonsense!" Noah screamed and walked towards the man. "It's just a contract! You can take any other girl with you!" "but I want her." Theodore looked at the girl. She looked at it in disbelief. "You could have passed me, Noah, but you didn't." ,,Don't touch her!" He shouted at him as Mr. Prescott walked towards the bed. "It belongs to me, you will not order me around." He replied calmly, then shook Adeline's hand. She hesitantly pulled out hers, then looked at Noah. He looked angry and depressed. ,,Sorry Noah, but like I said... some things stay between me and Mr. Prescott." She finally spoke after a moment of thought. ... "Thank you, sir. Mr. Vanderlyn must have drugged me with something..." Adeline said shyly, sitting in the car. ,,You have nothing to thank me for, you are my fiancée, it is my duty to protect you." He smiled without taking his eyes off the road. ,,But how did you know I was here? Why didn't you just abandon me if I didn't come?" She asked with a feeling of guilt. "I chose you, didn't I?" He replied briefly. Adeline looked at him for a moment. He was truly incredibly handsome. Black, disheveled hair, dark eyes, piercing the soul... Solidly built shoulders that stood out even through the suit. He looked amazing. After a moment he caught her staring at him. ,,What, do you like me that much?" He laughed. "No... I mean, I'm just seeing you for the first time." She stammered, feeling herself blushing. "Anyway, it's too late to waste time at the restaurant, we'll go straight to my house." He said, speeding up. "Do you like driving fast?" "Um... not really..." She said, catching her breath, remembering how she rode with her foster father. "What did you mean, too late?" "The welcome banquet begins at 10 p.m.." ,,For whom?" ,,For you." He replied, glancing at her. "I only received a message about an introductory interview..." She sighed quietly. ,,"I guess I'll have to fire someone." He stated dispassionately. ,,But... when will we meet? I don't know anything about you.." She asked nervously, playing with her fingers. ,,I know everything I need to know about you for now. Getting to know you better.." He looked at her ambiguously. ,,We'll deal with it later." Adeline rolled her eyes. ... ,,You look stunning." He said as she left the room, wearing a new dress. ,,Thank you." She whispered, looking at herself in the mirror. It was the first time she had seen herself in such a dress. The blue color highlighted her delicate beauty, and the deep V-neckline highlighted her breasts. The dress was tied at the back and flared from the hips. She also wore high heels for the first time, and she had trouble walking in them. ,,Theodore... if this is a contractual marriage, will we be able to live separately?" She asked hopefully. "What are you talking about?" He asked, losing his smile. "You know... we sign a contract, you have a wife for the image, I have money... and I guess that's what it's all about?" She asked, a little less confident than before. ,,We don't have to live together, sleep together, and all that, do we? "You're being frivolous." He walked up to her and pulled her to him forcefully. "You belong to me now."
