,,I can't believe you were serious about that!" Adeline laughed as she finished the rest of her coffee. Ivy rolled her eyes, smiling. They were sitting together in their favorite cafe, talking about last night. Her best friend proposed her a... contractual marriage to some guy. "You don't think that ad was serious, do you?" Addie laughed. Ivy cleared her throat loudly. "Will you at least let me tell you the details? You don't even know who—" "I don't need to know, it's fake" She interrupted her. "No billionaire would look for a wife this way." "Well... if you're sure it's fake anyway, I guess you won't mind if I report you?" Ivy smiled as she watched Adeline's expression turn from amusement to shock. "Girl, you're crazy!" She nudged her in the shoulder. "What if it's true and I accidentally win?" She replied sarcastically, looking away. ,,Good for you" She sighed. "But now some pervert might steal my data!" Addie began to wonder. However, Ivy verified the ad and knew it was real. Ada would know it too if she had listened to her. Theodore Prescott, one of the most powerful billionaires in their city and the new CEO of his family company, was looking for a wife. The announcement included information that the wedding was just a formality and their reaction was to be purely business-like. It works on the principle - he has a wife, the wife has money and status. Ivy didn't know why she was looking for a wife now, in this way, but she saw it as a great opportunity. What did her bestie have to lose? Of course, she took into account that Adeline had little chance of winning. She doesn't come from a wealthy family, she has no wealth, she has no status... in the eyes of the upper class people, she is nothing.A billionaire's wife must look good next to him. Ivy sighed at the thought, still holding onto a tiny bit of hope. She felt that this was the last resort, after that there were only darker scenarios... ,,Adeline" She said, snapping out of her thoughts. ,,What's so formal?" She asked, smiling slightly and frowning. ,,If you get any message, if by some miracle you win the contest, please don't ignore it" She spoke with complete seriousness. "Honey, spare me... you know that people from higher society are a completely different story..." She replied, losing her smile. "Even if it were true... I definitely wouldn't win, we know that." "There's always a small chance..." Ivy clenched her hands in her skirt and looked at the ground. She felt helpless and frustrated. "Hey.. Ivy..." Addie continued. "I appreciate you wanting to help me, I really do. I love you. But I'd be more interested in job offers than weddings." She laughed. Ivy smiled too, hearing how ridiculous it sounded. "Okay then... let's find you a better job?" ,,It's not that simple... you know they require a high school diploma everywhere." Adeline rolled her eyes and made a gun shape with her fingers, placing them against her head. "So maybe... sign up for night school?" A glimmer of hope flashed in Ivy's eyes again. "No, no, no... I don't have the money for that. And it's a waste of time-" "I'll pay for you" She interfered. Ada sighed heavily, rolling her eyes playfully, indicating that she didn't even want to hear it. ,,Please, Ada, please-" While she was asking her friend, a boy approached them. He looked to be their age. "Good morning, ladies" He bowed and kissed the hands of each of them. Ivy and Adeline exchanged meaningful glances. "I'm sorry to interrupt, you didn't want to eavesdrop... but I have a proposition for you." The man looked at Ada. "Continue" The girl became curious. "My father is looking for a cleaner for our house... " He exchanged glances at the girls to make sure they weren't having a bad reaction. "I know it can be a humiliating job for such a beautiful woman, but if you have no other choice, then you know..." He smiled warmly. Adeline thought for a moment. "Oh and excuse me, where are my manners.. My name is Noah. Noah Vanderlyn." He shook hands with the girls sitting in front of him. "Well... I'm Adeline Evans, and this is my best friend, Ivy Dawson." Ivy smiled and waved awkwardly. "Nice to meet you... so I'll leave you my phone number, if you change your mind, please call." "Wait, how much would they pay me per hour?" Ada asked, grabbing the boy by the hem of his shirt to make him turn around. "$100 an hour" He smiled as he saw her eyes widen. "What?! That's impossible!" Ivy squealed loudly. Adeline still stared at him in shock. His intense blue eyes stared at her slightly open mouth. "I guess there's no need to think about it. I agree." She said as she organized her thoughts.Meanwhile, Ivy kicked her in the leg under the table. "Okay, then write to me and we'll arrange an introductory conversation." He winked at her and then hurried out. "Ada, what are you doing?!" Ivy practically shouted at her friend, drawing the attention of everyone in the cafe. "What do you mean? I get the job!" The girl hit her forehead upon hearing Adeline's words. "You didn't believe in the wife contest, but now you do? $100 an hour? Seriously?" Ivy felt her panic rising. "What if you go there and they kidnap you? Seriously, someone just grabs people from a coffee shop and then pays them that much money to clean it up?!" "Maybe he's also a billionaire, just looking for a cleaning lady and not a wife." Addie said sarcastically, slightly annoyed. Ivy crossed her arms over her chest. If it were some billionaire, she would know who he was. What Addie didn't know was that her best friend had a weakness for rich men and fantasized about them every day. She learned by heart everyone from the city and surrounding areas. And this was the first time she had seen this man. M Theodore Prescott, from the ad, was real. She checked all the media to make sure it was true that he was looking for a wife. The information was confirmed. If this Noah were someone like Theodore, Ivy would definitely know him. ,,But just an idea, $100 an hour... that's half my monthly salary!" Adeline drifted off into her fantasy. "Yes, but your job can't even be called work... it's cheap labor" She sighed. "It's a bit like being someone's slave and being given dry bread to eat." Adeline grimaced at these words. She knew exactly what it was like, because in reality, her entire life had followed this pattern. ... When evening came, Ada lay in bed in her bestie's living room and hesitated for a moment over sending the message. Like it or not, Ivy's words were still on her mind, but it still seemed more real to her than the wife contest. Being a cleaner was more real.. and comfortable. She took two deep breaths and then sent the message. Adeline: ,,Hey! It's me, the girl from the cafe... please, can we discuss the details? She got out of bed and paced nervously around the room. As soon as a notification came in, she'd rush to her phone. But it wasn't Noah. After a long 15 minutes he finally replied. Addie's face turned pale after reading the message.
