Chapter 2 Whose Body Is This?

1138 Words
Penelope's POV I felt the cold water splash on me and I jerked my eyes open to look around only to find myself in a well-decorated room, and I was surprised at the sight. “What's going on? Should I not be dead by now?” I wondered, and my eyes twitched, confused as I locked my gaze with a woman in front of me. “Are you awake now? Did you really wish to die so much that you did not even mind poisoning yourself to death!” I heard the woman yell, and I looked at her strangely. I do not know who she is, and I wondered if she was the person present for the wedding ceremony. Was she the one that saved me from dying? “Who are you?” I asked, and I watched her look at me in awe, but I noticed that something was wrong with me. That voice! That's not mine! I panicked, and I stood up abruptly as I rushed to where I saw a mirror, and I was ghastly shocked by what I saw. “That face! Who is staring at me? Why is there another person in the mirror!” I yelled exasperatedly, forgetting that there were people in the room, and they were looking at me rather surprised and wondering why I was acting weird. “Are you okay?” I heard the older woman ask, but I was too occupied to care. I tried to make a gesture in front of the mirror even though I knew that it was stupid, but the gesture was the same. And there could only be one explanation for it…that was my reflection! I am the beautiful girl in the mirror with one of the most beautiful sets of blue eyes that I can't help but envy. But what went wrong? How can this be possible? I panicked, and I tried to connect with my wolf and I felt nothing. Lena was gone! I couldn't connect with her. “Are you going to tell me what's going on with you, young woman!” I heard the woman bellowing, but I just shook my head because everything was still like a dream to me. “Can you please tell me what's going on?” I asked with a calm voice because I knew if I wanted to understand the situation that I was in, I needed to at least know what was going on. Maybe they did one kind of sorcery to change my face and my voice. Are you even pretending to be crazy now? What lengths are you going to avoid getting married! The older woman, who I now noticed had a resemblance to this face, and she stormed out of the room, but I needed answers, so I walked to the other lady in the room, who I suspected was a maid. “Don't panic and whatever I am going to ask, make sure that you have an answer for it,” I say, and the lady nods her head as she sniffed gently, and I wondered why she was crying, but I was not opportune to ask because I have to leave the place too. “Who is this person? I mean the owner of this face?” I asked, and she looked at me weirdly, but I could see that my earlier warning was restricting her from asking the questions lingering on her mind. “You are Zera Alan, the daughter of elder Alan and you are supposed to be married to…” she was saying, but I cut her off. “Zera? So she does have a name, and she is not me,” I say slowly, and I finally understand what was happening. I slipped into this person's body. It was indeed that I was reborn but not as me but as someone else. But why? Am I even going to survive in this place? “What are you saying my lady, you need to make haste the Alpha can't wait anymore and please can you stop endangering your life…trying to commit suicide wasn't going to help you,” the maid says, and I nod my head hearing what she says? Oh, this person tried to commit suicide, but I slipped into her instead, but does this mean that her soul is still in this body, or she has really died? “What's your name?” I asked, and she burst into another round of sniffs hearing my question. “Has my lady really lost her memories?” she asked, breaking into sobs, but I consoled telling her that I was fine, and I just needed a glass of water to calm down even though I was just bathed with water now. I watched her retreating and I sighed, seeing I had to escape the lives of the owner of this body was complicated, and I rushed to the door, but I bumped into a hard chest immediately I stepped out, and I stiffened at the contact. “Are you running away again?” I heard a husky voice ask, and I was surprised to be faced with a cold man who looked deadly handsome. Is he even human? “What are you saying?” I asked, and I watched the cold handsome man in front of me snarled as he walked closer to me and I stepped back in fear, but my steps halted when I slammed my back against the wall and I winced a bit. “What are you saying? Are you trying to pretend you don't know me now? Is that a new trick?” he asked, and I was confused. I tried to access the former owner's memories, but it was blank, and I sighed, seeing that I had to deal with the problem myself. “No, I must have hit my head when I fainted…maybe that's why,” I say lowly trying my best to avoid him, but it was impossible as the man was not even giving me a breathing space at all. “Oh really? Now you are lying?” he asked, and I shook my head telling him that I wasn't doing that. I wondered if the man had caught up on my lies because his gaze on me was intense, and he just noticed something different from me, and he might have been close to the owner of the body, that is why he was looking at me like that. “How can you forget the man you are trying so hard not to marry, is that not a joke to you?” he asked, and my breathing turned erratic hearing his words. What! He is the one, the owner of the body was supposed to marry, and she dared run! What foolishness.
