Penelope's POV
After he talked about Kiara preparing my room, he dashed out of the room without caring to give me a face and I argued, wondering how their mate's bond was a mess.
“Kiara, can you tell me why that man is behaving like that to me?” I asked and Kiara sighed hearing my question.
I think the question should be what did you do to that man to treat you like that, Kiara says with a frustrated voice and I could swear that she was only on the brink of not losing her mind.
“What have I done?” I asked, and she started listing out Zera's mischievousness to not get mated to the man. I was surprised to see that there was someone ready to go to any length not to be with her mate.
Not only that, but I could be sure that many wolves could die to have that kind of opportunity… Especially someone like me who got betrayed by my mate.
“Maybe the person I love is more formidable than the Alpha,” I say reasonably, trying to reason with Zera too, but Kiara's response caught me off guard.
“What did you mean? Who could be more formidable than Alpha Cane of the Gloomy Moon Pack?” she asked, and I gasped.
“He is the Alpha of the Gloomy Moon pack?” I asked and I nodded.
Even though I haven't met the Alpha before, while living as Penelope I knew her formidable. How can a woman be so bold as to leave someone like him?
“What other crazy things did I do to leave this formidable man for heaven knows who?” I asked.
“You really have done so many crazy things. You have been so adamant about marrying that boy that you even went as far as trying to stab the Alpha,” I heard the girl say, and I gasped.
What? This crazy girl could actually think of stabbing such a handsome man because of her infatuation! She really is a tough one.
“That is why I am begging you not to have that kind of thoughts again…you are giving the Alpha a tough time,” Kiara begged and I nodded my head.
“Does the Alpha love me?” I asked and Kiara looked awkward, so I decided not to ask again.
It was obvious, his interaction with me earlier was more of a stranger and nothing more. How can those two be mates?
Kiara left me in the room after dressing up, and she took an excuse to leave saying she had to get me some scented rose incense to burn for the night and I shivered at the thought.
I was agitated that I was going to be mated in the stead of the girl while I was still very much single. Why do I have to enter her body today of all day, but the door to the room creaked open, and I thought it was Kiara?
“Kiara, you are here!” I called, raising my head, but I was surprised to see a lady dressed in an elegant blue dress with an air of class around her and I felt a bit inferior.
I couldn't compare myself with this elegant woman, but I knew this Zera's girl beauty wasn't to be underestimated, so I later stood with my head high.
“Lovely evening,” she greeted, and I watched as she walked in fully and I wondered what she was up to since I do not know anyone and I didn't want my facade to be exposed. I made sure not to speak first.
“How can you be this relaxed,” she says, and I was confused as to what the strange lady was trying to do? Even though her face was snoring concern, her words were mocking instead.
She was weird.
“I see that you are dressed for the night,” I heard the strange lady say, and I was confused to see how elegant she looked even on another person's wedding day, but I did not say anything since it was none of my business.
I don't understand why she has an air around her that warned me to be wary and after the taste of death, I do not think anyone should be underestimated…not even the one that looked innocent.
“I am sorry that you are getting married against your will… I mean even though he is your mate he doesn't have the right to confine you to marry him,” she says, and I was surprised to hear her words.
Ever since I woke up in this woman's body everyone has been slapping it to my face that I needed to marry the man and no one cared whatsoever what I thought, and I knew that they all must have wanted what was good for the lady since she was blinded with love that can't precede the mate's bond.
‘So if there is someone who has been egging her to leave such a formidable man, that person is definitely not a friend but rather a foe’ I mulled in my head and I tried to study the lady.
After waking up in this lady's body I realized that my reasoning had sharpened, and I had everything under control, maybe because I had tasted the hollow taste of death.
“You are right, it's really unfortunate,” I say, waiting for her to continue her words because I was having fun. She was the first person to sympathize with me. Of course, I should give her an audience.
I know right, and that's why I came up with the best option.
“Are you this angry because the portion I gave you was poisonous instead of being a sleeping potion?” she asked, and my eyes widened in surprise as I sprawled up immediately.
“What! You are the one who gave the poison to her!” I exclaimed as I couldn't contain my voice and I wondered what was going on.
She gave her the poison!
