Carlos and Wayne ordered another beer. If they were going to go to prison, they would at least go plastered. They ordered round after round at Third Base, which was their favorite bar. It was a college bar, so drinks were cheap. The place was usually flooded in the evenings with college girls and guys, but it was 11 a.m. The two officers were alone and having a blast. By 1 p.m., they were surrounded by beer bottles and shot glasses. Some people came in and left, but it was just the two officers. They joked about life and relationships, and shared stories about working at the police department. “Just what I needed,” said Carlos.
