Rowena’s Pov
It’s another one of those days. I had just woken up, and sat up on the bed only to see Aiden and Lily standing in the middle of the room, both of their arms crossed as they looked pointedly at me.
“It’s only dawn, sweeties. Shouldn’t you both still be in bed, huh?” My heart skipped a beat as I addressed them.
“Mom, want to know what Aiden did? He told me Alpha Alexander isn’t our biological father like you said. I need you to prove him wrong, Mom.” Lily said in annoyance as scurried towards me, her short wavy hair bouncing with each step taken.
Hearing that, my heart thumped erratically and a bile that wasn't there before suddenly rose in my throat.
All these years, I have been avoiding telling them the truth, and made them believe Alexander was their father because it was the easiest way to quench their curiosity. But I only realized the more they grow, the more doubt that sprout at the back of their mind.
Yet, I knew I couldn’t let them know their real father. Sébestien doesn’t deserve a place in their lives after coldly casting me away because of another woman while I was heavily pregnant for him. Not now, not ever.
“He did?” I exclaimed, pretending to be shocked and when Lilly nodded her head, I looked towards my son, a pained smile on my face. “Come right here, Aiden,” I waved him over. “Don’t you think you need to tell momma where you heard that false information from?” I asked in a concerned tone when he finally reached me.
But instead of saying anything, he remained mute, staring down at his cute little toes in fear.
I couldn’t help but smile as I placed Lily down on the bed, to crouch before him. “You don’t want to tell Mommy? Oh no, I thought we agreed on telling each other each single thing? Now, I’m hurt, Aiden.” I mumbled to him, shaking my head in denial.
I watched him as he slowly began to raise his gaze. “No, mom. I… don’t mean to hurt you,” He began, his voice trembling a little as he now met my eyes and I could see the hesitance in them. “I’m going to tell you, but promise me you won’t be mad at me, pl…ease.”
I grabbed his hand, rubbing soothing circles on them. “Honey, I won’t. Mommy promises you that, okay? Now, tell me.” I urged him, all in hope he would open up to me.
He bit down at his lower lip nervously.
As I waited, my hope slowly slipped away, until he finally found the courage to speak. But his words were so startling that I jerked back, my eyes widening for a split second as I tried to convince myself that I heard him right.
“My friends at school would always laugh in my face, and say mean things like how Lily and I do not resemble father in any way. T…they said we aren’t his child, Mommy.” He finished and my heart dropped in its rib watching him break down in tears thereafter.
However, the thing is, I couldn’t show it. Not while they are still here. I sat back on the bed and placed Aiden side by side with his twin sister.
“He’s your father, we raised you both together and he was there when you took your first steps. After all these, do you know how hurt he would be if he learns you’re doubting him and choose to listen to your classmate's opinions instead?” I glanced at Aiden then back at Lily, meanwhile I was internally fighting back my rage at his classmates’ irritational behaviors.
When they both shook their heads in sync, I let out a deep sigh of relief.
“Good. You don’t have to feel bad, or cry in a corner. The pack’s Alpha is your birth father, and as his son and daughter, you have to carry his name with pride. He’s your father, and nothing anyone says can take that away, alright?” I told them softly, my eyes swelling with tears but I couldn’t break down in front of them. I hugged them tightly against my chest as they nodded affirmatively.
With my assurance, they were able to return to their rooms with smiles on their faces and although I was glad, I still felt defeated.
I’m so determined to take Sébastien out of the picture but despite him having no right to them, the resemblance between him and my kids are striking. It was in fact something no one could miss, even if they tried. And the mere knowledge of that alone filled me with so much fury and at the same time, desperation.
In no time, I reached out for my phone on the night stand, and tried to keep my anger in check as I typed off at the keyboard. “Hi, Brittany. Aiden and Lily are leaving Blue Sky Academy. Can you arrange an immediate transfer?”
I ran my eyes over the message, checking for any errors and making sure I sounded clear and direct before finally hitting send.
That’s it.
I was going to help them escape their reality as much as I could. I couldn’t let my children grow up to the nightmare in the form of Sébastien Ace. So, I’m going to do all it takes to fill the void of their father in their lives.
No matter what.

I couldn’t help but smile broadly as I pushed the door to Alpha Alexander’s study open, and entered. He was truly back. I’d been so worried. No matter the situation or how busy he got, he always made sure to return home. But last night was different. It was the first night he spent away, and I couldn’t help but worry about his safety.
“Good morning, Alpha.” I greeted as I strolled over to his desk, my voice cutting through the air and alerting him of my presence.
He raised his gaze and when he saw me, he shut the newspaper in his hand closed and leaned back in his seat, his eyes gleaming with an excitement I’d never seen before.
“Good thing you are here, Rowena. There's good news, one I think you have to know.” He said, tossing the newspaper across the table.
My brows furrowed in curiosity as I hesitately took it, wondering what was going on. But the moment my eyes settled on the headline, I was frozen in pure disbelief. Apparently, Sébestien had not only kicked Olivia out but publicly denounced her as his pack’s Luna a few days ago.
This, of all things, was one I didn’t see coming. He chose her over me, so it only made sense they’d stay together. But I never thought they would fall apart this soon. Or, perhaps, could this have been fabricated?
I shifted my concerned gaze to Alexander’s relaxed figure and as if he knew what was going through my head, he gave me a firm nod, confirming the genuineness of the news.
“Happy right?” He raised an eyebrow. And then he snickered, his eyes taking a darker shade. “Here comes Sébastien’s downfall.”
