Sébastien’s Pov “Are you seriously questioning me right now?” I slammed my fist against the drink cabinet and thundered, frustration oozing out of my voice. “I said pack her things and throw them out. Failure to do so, I’m stripping you of your title, Jason.” I instructed again, this time more firmly and my Beta trembled in fear. “I’m sorry, Alpha. I—I’ll do just that.” Jason’s voice cracked as he quickly said, bowing curtly before finally walking out of the door. As soon as he was gone, my shoulders slumped almost immediately and I released a sigh I didn't realize I had been withholding. The moment I arrived home, I wasn’t thinking of anything else and drank a lot, in hope of concealing my emotions. That was until I couldn’t hold it in anymore, and found myself ordering Jason to throw Olivia’s things out, without leaving out even a pin. Yet instead of feeling any better, it only dawned on me that chasing her out could do nothing to ease the pain I was feeling right now or stop it. The more time passed, the louder the silence grew, the air pressing in until it felt suffocating. How little must Olivia think of me to cheat, and so openly at that? Does she, even for a second not think back to how much I sacrificed to be with her? Had she forgotten how I had not only rejected my ex-mate, but also sold her off just to give her the crown of the pack’s Luna? As my hands tightened around the counter’s edge, my blood boiled faster than ever. Not only have I lost Rowena for good, Olivia has made it her goal to turn my life upside down. No one knew about her affair yet but soon, they would. The moment she steps out of this house with her belongings, the news will spread like wildfire. I could already picture the whispers, and how shameful I’d be for words to go around that a reputable Alpha like me couldn’t keep his wife under check to the point she sought another man outside. And soon it won’t be long before the pack would begin to weaken, this small c***k made by Olivia exposing the pack to threats from other packs, and who knows? We could be attacked. It wouldn’t take long before other packs would join hands together, wipe us out and then take over. A nightmare that’s unavoidable. A deep, thirsty growl tore from my chest and I slammed my fist into the counter, everything on it rattling. Fuck, I felt like snapping her neck into two, but if only she was here. I bet she has no plan of showing up. Still, I impatiently waited and my wish was soon granted. I heard her footsteps, and the closer she got to the door, I gritted my teeth and tried my best to hold my wolf down. I could feel him coming, trying immensely to resurface and jump Olivia at the very first step she took inside, but I restricted him. For now. “Seriously? How could you leave me stranded on the road alone, Sébastien?” She questioned, walking in. My brows furrowed annoyingly. Did I hear her right? “You dare ask me that, Olivia?” My jaw clenched and I found myself striding to meet her halfway. “I caught you cheating and the one thing you’re worried about is why I left you there? What happened to guilt? Did you hit your head on the way and lose your memory, or you just don’t know the gravity of what you did?” My eyebrows drew together in fury. As I stared at her face, I expected her to fall on her knees and start pleading, but all I was met with was a smirk as she crossed her arms. “I came back pretending not to remember, thinking you’d smart enough to not question me. But clearly, I was wrong,” Then looking me dead in the eye, she continued. “I saw my things outside. You want me to leave, don’t you?” She huffed. My shoulders dropped in total shock and I blinked rapidly, taken aback by how blatantly she spoke. There wasn’t a hint of remorse in her voice. For a moment, I stood frozen, but then my shoulders hunched back up and I met her eyes again. This time, daringly. “Yes, Olivia. I want you out of my sight, and life. And I’m denouncing you as my Luna right here and now.” I managed, holding my voice still from shaking as I waited for her reaction this time. Stripping her of her title would weaken her, I was so sure of it. But yet again, she didn’t as much as trembled. She laughed, her eyes wide with surprise like I’d just thrown her the very chance she’d been awaiting. “Great. I wanted out anyway. Now that you’ve presented me with the opportunity, who am I to refuse?” She shrugged. And then… “I, Olivia Carter, reject you, Sébastien Ace Falco as my mate and hereby sever our bond.” She said sharply, her tone full of irritation rather than guilt and I found myself dumbfounded. Standing there, it felt as though my chest had been ripped as our bond snapped, no longer existing. Meanwhile, Olivia already turned, going for the door. She felt nothing, did she? She must have wanted this all along and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the one who planned it. The man I caught her with wasn’t the real man. There’s another man in the picture. Someone far more powerful than me. Powerful enough to make her toss aside years of memories and everything we ever shared without a second thought. “Are you sure you won’t regret this?” I stormed after her, growling in a low voice that could tear the roof down if any higher. “Cheating is one thing, but being unbothered and rejecting me for another man is another. So tell me, did you think about your decision twice? The moment you’re out of here, you’re never stepping back under my roof. You know that, right?” “I do, and I assure you, you don’t have to worry. I’m leaving and will never be back to you. No matter what happens.” She assured coldly, grabbing the door and jamming it shut behind her in the speed of a lightning. My nostrils flared up in anger, and I closed my eyes, staggering back until my back knocked against the drink cabinet. The satisfactory smirk on her face as she trampled on my ego, her cold smile… it all flashed before my eyes again and my jaw locked, my fists tightening by my side. I had been such a fool. I had trusted her. I believed she was going to stick around, after all, I had rejected my first love just to be with her. But I realized now I had gotten it all wrong. I wasn’t her standard. I was just an option for her. One she temporarily got with, to await a bigger catch and now that she’s gotten it, she’s left me; opened up a fresh wound in my heart and coursing regret through my veins. If this wasn't my karma for shattering the heart of the only woman that ever truly loved me, then I don’t know what this is. ~ I spent the rest of the day in my bedroom, restlessly stirring in bed with my mind occupied with a lot of thoughts that I couldn’t find answers to. Then suddenly I heard a knock on the door. “I want my privacy. Whoever it is should go away.” I seethed angrily. However, as though the person hadn’t heard me at all, the door was flung open. “Alpha, there’s something I think you should know.” Jason came in, his strides urgent. I could furiously throw him out right away, but my wolf betrayed me with an unwelcomed curiosity. “You better not be here to toy with me, Jason. You won’t be spared.” There’s fire in my eyes as I rolled out of bed, and stood before him, the smell of threat in the air. I knew he could smell it too. He must know his life was at stake, if whatever he disrupted my solitude for failed to exceed my expectations. “This bottle of contraceptive was just found in Olivia’s room, right beneath her bed, while the room was being cleaned up before it’s locked as you ordered.” He slowly raised the small bottle up, and the instant my eyes met it, it felt as though I’d been set ablaze. “She couldn’t have been taking this… right?” Instead of answering the obvious, I reached out for the contraceptive, my anger shimmering higher. No, this couldn’t be real. I snapped the cover opened, looking inside and that was when the truth stared me in the eyes. There were just two doses left in the bottle. “Well, thank you for this Jason. You can leave now.” My voice is raw as it cut through the silence. Although my gaze still remained solely on the bottle in my hand. Filled with curiosity, Jason inched closer to question me about whether his assumptions were right or not. But as I raised my head to meet his eyes, he retreated, knowing better than to defy me. I watched him closely as he turned around and left. As soon as he was gone, a guttural growl of outrage tore from my throat me and I paced back and forth, refusing to believe the reality before me. All along, nothing was wrong with me. There was never a need for a breeder either. S…she had been using this pills to avoid getting pregnant for me, and I was never the issue like she had made me believe. Instead, she had joined hand with the pack’s doctor to trick me into believing I was the infertile one. The reason we couldn’t bear children. With a shaky breath, I moved towards the bed and slumped down on it. As I wallowed in pain, guilt and regret, tears stung my eyes, streaming down my face for the first time in many years and I allowed it. I had lost everything. All I have left now being my pack in which am not sure how long it remained until it falls down in ruins too. And if I wanted to save it, there was only one choice. But the question is, how was I going to reach for it? Rowena doesn’t want me back in her life. That much was clear from how she hadn’t even bothered to return my letter. I swallowed the lump in my throat. Would it be better to lose everything, or try again? Who knows, maybe this time, I could actually win her over. Get her and my kids back.
