Chapter 5

Dante The elevator came to a stop and I looked up as the doors opened. There she was, the woman from last night. My mouth dropped as she stepped in, never glancing up. I looked at her back, my eyes scanning over her. She was dressed professionally and she smelled of vanilla and honey. I felt my d**k harden in my pants and strain against the zipper. Fuck, what is she doing here? Does she know that I own this building? Should I even say anything to her? If she saw me when she stepped inside, she was acting like I don’t exist. Is she embarrassed over last night’s incident and thinks that maybe I don’t recognize her? s**t, even blindfolded, I would be able to tell it was her even by her intoxicating scent. My eyes roamed over her back side, resting upon her ass. I slowly moved my eyes down her legs. I couldn’t help but to wonder if they were thigh high tights or actual full on tights. Not that it mattered, I would work around them either way. I looked at the buttons on the wall of the elevator after it stopped and let some people get off. I hadn’t even realized we weren’t alone. When the elevator started going up, I thought about stopping it and taking her right there, whether she was a virgin or not. I pushed off the wall and reached for her when the elevator stopped and she stepped off going to the right. I let out a sigh, and realized it was the top floor. She does works here. Damn it, this was going to be complicated. I stepped off the elevator and watched her go right into the break room. I shook my head and walked straight ahead to my office. I closed the doors and sat back in my chair. I needed to get my head straight before I hopped onto the conference call in five minutes. Later that morning I hung up the conference call and leaned back in my chair. The new girl was starting today and I would need to go out and greet her. She would be temporarily in the office next to me. I looked down at my now ringing phone and answered it. “Yes?” I heard a clearing of her voice before she spoke, “Mr. Blackwell, Mr. Temple is on the line.” “Put him through.” I let out a sigh. I hated this guy. Even all through college, I hated him. Everything was always a competition with him. And now he is my rival in business. Although we are friendly professional wise, I would take him out in a minute if I was ever given the opportunity. He always wanted what I had and went after it. Even with my ex-fiancé, he went after her once we split. She dated him for a year or so after and she broke it off with him and moved halfway across the country trying to escape him and build a new life. “Are you listening to me? I told you that you need to withdraw your offer with Sora Corporations. There is no way they’re worth that amount of money you’re offering.” I laughed because the deal was good. It was a few thousand more than what the woman wanted to sell it for. Plus, I would pay her a share of what the business makes for the next thirty years. She was cashing out and would be worth millions in a year or two. He again wanted what I had offered to buy out this small business. It had great potential and would be worth it in the end. “Jax, let me be clear when I say this to you. Are you listening?” I didn’t wait for his response, “Just because your company is too broke for a good thing, doesn’t mean I’ll give it up for you to buy it cheaper and ruin it. If you want it, outbid me on the deal.” I didn’t even give him time to come back with anything and hung up on him. I leaned back in my chair and let out a long sigh, closing my eyes as my thoughts drifted back to last night. Why did this woman have such a hold over me? She was beautiful, witty, and funny, but she was also a virgin. Virgins can make things more complicated; they tend to become too attached and desire a long-term relationship. I don’t want forever; I just want something for now and whenever the need arises. I pushed away from my chair and stood. Keep busy, get my mind off of her. I gathered up some of the papers, placing them into a folder. I would need her to go over for a marketing meeting later that day and open the door. When I looked at the desk that sat in the middle of the room I dropped the folder that held those papers. When her eyes looked up and met mine, they widened. So she didn’t see me after all.
