‘Kusum, today is your first day in college, you didn’t even join orientation last day, wake up.’ I woke up from my dream hearing mom shout. Unwillingly I had to wake up and join breakfast with my dad. ‘Are you sure you don’t want to take the bike.’ ‘I am sure, and you also have to go to your office you also need a ride. I am fine with public vehicles.’ I picked up a random pair of jeans and a top and helped myself out bidding my mom and dad a good day. After 10 minutes of the bus ride, I reached my meant to be a prison. Unlike previous visits today there was no peace. Every nook and corner was filled with boys and girls. Girls were wearing unbelievably hot clothes and boys all were like a gentleman. And I looked at myself I was wearing a top from neck to knee and black jeans I was like a single throne in the whole garden. I just didn’t want anyone to notice me. I went to a help counter near the gate and asked for my classroom. A boy in his thirties gave me a map and pointed out the location for my class. I hurried toward it. My class was 10 minutes far from the gate. It was really a big collage. When I reached the class I see every chair were occupied except one at the corner, I went there trying my best not to grab anyone's attention. Everyone was talking with each other introducing themselves, some were talking as if they have known each other for ages. Trying to avoid eye contact I roamed my eyes to every classmate sitting there in search of that one guy whom I saw in the counter room that day. But he wasn’t there. Someone hit me from behind, ‘I think I know you.’ She was a senior from my school Mahma, but what was she doing in this class. ‘yeah, we went to the same school, you were my senior.’ ‘I took a year break on my studies last year, so I am no longer your senior’ She sat next to me and along with her other four girls came there. ‘Hello, I am Upisa, nice to meet you’, said a girl with red hair, she was beautiful along with her other three girls introduced to me. ‘Are you from the environment department too,’ asked a blonde girl. ‘No, I am from Applied physics, it seems like we are going to study together this year.’ ‘It doesn’t make any difference when we are at the same college isn’t it?’ adds Mahma. All four of them sits in front of us and began gossiping about other girls, their appearance, and attitude. Meanwhile, my eyes were stuck at the door. Finally, the teacher comes everyone in the class went silent but still the boy didn’t seem to appear. ‘This is your first day of college so we are going to introduce each other today. It’s my turn at first. You can call me Mr. Jha I am going to teach you mathematics. Now your turn’. He pointed toward a boy in the first chair in the first row. ‘I am Asutosh from Kathmandu. I am in the department of the environment.’ Another mate sitting next to him continues after him. I wasn’t good at remembering the names so it was vain to pay attention but one name caught me ‘Punkuj poudel.’ Another guy from the class was claiming it to be his name and besides, he was from the Department of Applied physics. ‘Does that mean I was wrong, he isn’t my brother,’ my heart fluttered again, there was a ray of hope again. I don’t know what happened to me I don’t even know the name of that guy and already dreaming about him. I felt nonsense when he entered in the room. In black coat type jacket and black jeans, he was looking like a prince most of the girls in the class were warming their eyes upon him. He came inside there was no chair left for him. A girl in the first row stood up and offered him the seat and sat next to him. I was angry out of nowhere looking at them sitting together. The introduction part continues. It was my turn I stood up shakily ‘Hello, My name is Kusum paudel from banepa, nice to meet you all’ The guy looked behind at me our eyes met and I forgot to sit, Mahma dragged me down. ‘what were you looking at’ ‘No, I just was nervous’ I looked at him again he was looking at Upisa who was giving her introduction. ‘At least he noticed me,’ fluttered my heart. For the first time I was happy there were no girls in my department, from next year I won’t have to see other girls trying to impress him. At last, it was his turn to introduce himself, ‘Asif Rauf from Kathmandu.’ ‘Asif Rauf,’ I repeated the name in my heart again and again.’ ‘his name is handsome just like him isn’t it,’ Mahma said looking toward me. I nodded my head. As it was the first day, all day we do was gossip and introducing. The day wasn’t that bad as I expected, instead, I got a friend to return home with but seriously I was regretting it soon after we travel for a minute with each other. She was a nonstop talker, it seemed as if all the problem in the world were hers, ‘look at my dress I didn’t like this but I have to wear because I gained 10 pounds in a month and nothing fits me now, and look at my hair I went to the parlor to color it grey but she colored it red and she didn’t even ask for an apology. This world is getting selfish day by day no one is honest. Do you know what my last boyfriend did to me’, She was going on and on it seemed as if all the passengers were looking at us as her voice was loud enough to grab attention. I was just waiting for her stop to come soon, mine was next from her.
