Unknown POV
I was wandering the city for who knows how long when I suddenly smelled a sweet scent near the forest and I followed the smell to a gate. "Hey!" I shouted as I rattled the locked gate.
I didn't know why I was shouting or wanting to get inside, but the scent kept calling to me. "Let me in! What is that smell?!" I groaned softly at the end of my demands.
Someone finally came, a tall, dark haired man flanked by two... wolves? What the hell is going on here? I thought to myself as the gate slowly swings open without a sound.
"Luna?" He called out as he walked towards me. "Are you home, Luna?"
Is that my name? Luna? It's pretty enough. He was close to me as I wobble on shaking legs. Suddenly, darkness overtakes my vision and I was falling forward as the man catches me in his arms.
Alpha Peter Smythe's POV
"My mate has returned," I thought to Steve as we head to the hospital wing. In six months or so, the new, stand alone, hospital would be completed and we could renovate the hospital wing to allow for more wolves to live in the 80 bedroom massive pack house.
"My mate, too." Steve reminded me and I nodded.
I know she is both of our mate but sometimes in the dead of night when we howl for her return, I think about rejecting her and taking a chosen mate that would stay with us... then we think of her face, her voice, the way she speaks and I know that nothing can replace my Luna, Margot.
I slid to a halt at the desk. "Doctor Chambers, please."
The nurse looked up. "Alpha, she is in with the Luna right now. Would you like to wait in her office?" She asked me as I turned and sat in the waiting area.
"Just alert her to my arrival, she has a block up and I can't reach her." I took my head in my hands and sighed.
Margot had never been in poor condition when she returned, I keep her card maxed so she can have whatever her heart desires while she is away. She even has an elegant townhouse in Canada that she can live in.
The nurse typed in the computer and a few minutes later the good doctor finally came out. "How is Margot?" I barked at her, not meaning to.
"The Luna is resting. She is malnourished and dehydrated and brought with her nothing. Not even her purse." The doctor motions for me to follow as she moves away.
I hurry behind her, my hair all over the place from my grabbing it and pulling as I waited. There, laying in the hospital bed was my mate, I could smell her scent and feel her closeness as I sit beside her bed in a chair that had been pulled close and take her hand, feeling the familiar tingle of the mate bond as she sleeps.
Dr Chambers POV
The Luna is in bad shape, dehydrated and starved, she is just skin and bones. I hurry to my office, calling in the resident witch and trackers. I sent the trackers to followe her back trail and the witch to the room to examine her.
I decided to run the blood panels myself and was shocked to find wolf's bane and a drug I could only see the molecule schematic of. Confused, I researched the drug for hours and was able to understand its components as similar to propofol but it had wolf's bane within it... "Was it made to cause this effect on weres? Is this the reason that the luna is in such bad shape?" I asked my wolf and she tilts her head a small nod to her movement.
I rushed to her room to inform the Alpha and as we were talking about it the Luna woke up to stare around her in confusion. "Margot!" the Alpha cried, pulling her into his arms and hugging her as she sniffed his neck.
"You're the smell I cant get enough of?!" she shouted as she shoved him away.
I stepped forward. "Luna, you have been drugged with a propofol type drug paired with wolf's bane. It appears that someone use the Amnesia effects of the drug with the debilitating effects of wolf's bane to remove your memory."
The alpha hung his head and took her hand as the witch tried to figure out what had happened. "Doctor, there is dark magic here... a sorcerer's powers that are linked to the Luna's powers. The sorcerer or sorceress have helped the drugs to work and the Luna is in pain from the wolf's bane."
