"Yes Dr. Lokhande...yes...I am on my way to the hospital, sorry for making you wait...thank you. " The back of her neck was prickling due nervousness, a unknown kind of electricity was running down through her core as she got out of the car and entered the hospital. She was today in a simple over sized kurti and Levis, the most comfortable dress she could come up with for today's process, just as her Dr. has prescribed. Yes, Dr. Lokhande had called her last evening again to know how she is feeling lately. And Alisha had told her that the temperature had lowered down from last night and that she is feeling alright. And in turn her doctor had given her another good news. "I have got the perfect donor, Alisha..... from the preserving center. And I don't think we should waste anymore time if you are ready for it! " When she hadn't gotten any reply for a few long minutes, she had literally broken in cold sweat. 'Perhaps the plan wasn't going to work out after all. ' she had thought. And then Alisha realized that she had been silent for long and that her silence must be giving away the wrong message. "Alisha you had thought about your decision right?" "Yes!" "You are hundred percent sure that you are going to do this? " "Yes of course Dr. I am completely sure! It was just....that.....I had gotten a little overwhelmed! " "Then I would see you tomorrow? For the first take?" "Okay" Alisha smiled faintly watching her own face in the mirror after putting her phone away. 'She was going to be a mother again! So exciting! ' Dr. Lokhande had explained all about the process to her already, on the last meeting they had. She had been taking the medicines as per prescribed by her as well as keeping a track record of her menstrual cycle. Today was also the perfect day because it was the fourteenth day, the ovulatory phase. Smiling at the receptionist, she walked past to the second floor before knocking on the usual door. "Come in. " "Oh! You are here! " Suddenly Dr Garima stood up, almost dropping the phone from her hand. Awkwardly smiling at Alisha, she ushered her in. "Com'on Alisha take a seat. " "I will talk to you later! " she spoke on the phone, whispering the last Part. "She is here! " before putting her phone away. "So Alisha you ready? " Alisha nodded, both making their way towards the adjacent room. *** At Nihar ----------------- "Dhruv Patel what are you doing here?" Dhruv looked up to find Shalini and Kumar standing at the door. 'Busted! ' he sighed dejectedly. "You didn't tell us! What were you doing here? " Shalini spoke in an unusual deadly voice. "And that too near her desk?" Kumar added suspiciously, closing the door behind them. "I was looking for the file, I had sent Alisha a week ago. "Dhruv replied with as much confidence that he could gather. "Oh really? " For the first time after he had joined Nihar he saw Shalini, the ever cool person angry. "I thought the file holder was there! "She pointed her index finger on the other side of the room with large racks, stacked with files. Keeping his face neutral and voice as steady as possible he spoke. "Oh! I hadn't noticed that before and was tirelessly looking here and there. Thank you! " finishing off with one of his characteristic confident smiles he started to move towards the file rack. "Dhruv....either you think we are complete fools....or....YOU are a complete fool! " Shalini strode towards him. "You have to answer me right now! What were you looking for....at Alisha's desk in her cabin and that too....at such an ungodly hour?" Dhruv knew right then that he was completely and utterly caught. "Look....I can't tell you? " "Then I am sure, you will be able to justify your actions to Alisha, when we tell her that....you were snooping around her desk at midnight?" "Look.....you must not tell her about this! " "And why not? " Kumar asked as Shalini sniggered. "I-I was just being silly! Looking for it here! " he frustratingly ran his hand through his hair. "Looking for what? " "If-if I tell you both about it...to-to both of you then you have to promise me that you won't tell Alisha about it. " "We can't promise anything! " Shalini spoke with her arms folded in front of her. "I need your help Shalini....Kumar....you have to help me to stop Alisha before she ruins her life! " "Ruins her life? What do you mean? " Shalini asked a little unsure as she saw Dhruv falling back down on a near by chair. "What is she doing? " Kumar asked as Dhruv pulled his head in his hands. "She has decided to....to have a child through a IUI...an artificial insemination! " "What? But why would she do that? "Kumar was truly surprised. "Due her ex-husband of course! Why else? She is traumatized after how he left her....I think....and that is the reason why she is no more ready to let a man in her life anymore! " Dhruv replied. "Wait a minute....wait a minute! I think it's completely her personal life and her choice....of what and why she is doing! That's none of your business...but that still does not explain why you were here." Shalini was still not letting it go so easily by believing in his sudden story. "I was searching something to know about the doctor or about the clinic where she is going....to put a stop on this suicidal step!" "And why the hell would you do that! Who gave you the rights? " Shalini looked more furious than ever right then. "Shalini I can't just let her ruin her life like that, getting pregnant....with some stranger's baby....she is choosing a...hard life. A life she would be left alone for the rest! " He slapped his forehead with his palm. "And why do you care so much?" "Would it help..... if I tell you that I love her?" *** "Lily...please can you clean up the spare room beside my bedroom? " He spoke to his house maid while having dinner. But still did not miss the surprised look on the poor girl's face, after all that was the room which was once occupied by none other than his wife. 'Now ex-wife' "Are we going to have a guest soon, sir?" She asked. "No not a guest. But a permanent resident actually. " He smiled smugly, recalling the phone call this evening with Dr. Garima Lokhande. He recalled how relieved he felt and how excited he is.......he is going to be a father! The doctor had called him just a few hours ago that the processes had been over successfully! And that in two weeks he would know the results. Although there's only thirty percent chance for her to conceive on the first take, he was still sure that it was going to happen and it was going to happen now!
