I looked at the small bundle of the newest Bernardi in my arms. His pink face was all scrunched up, and he would occasionally yawn and smack his gums, then let out a whimper. All of this with his eyes closed tight.
My sister Gia was hanging over my shoulder, pawing at him and with every facial movement and whimper he made, she, herself would make an audible, “Aaaaaah," followed by a, “Oh my goodness he’s yawning! … He’s so squishy and cute. I just want to eat him up!”
Sof and mom would each echo an “Aaaaaah”, and I finally couldn’t help commenting, “He’s funny looking.”
