CHAPTER 5

Now, Cassie is happy because of the kind of influence Red had on her. Cassie now goes out and does whatever that makes her happy. Summer vacation was over and Marina had to start going to school. Mrs Baron will be all alone in the house if Cassie starts working once again so Cassie employed a maid for their mom. Because of all these tragedies trooping into Cassie's life, she forgot all about the work Kevin had given her. One day, the worst of all happened. Kevin came for the documents but Cassie told him all that happened and asked him to give her some more time to finish the work. “Do I look like I care about anything that is making you not do my work for me? You are given this beautiful apartment so that you will be comfortable in it and do the work. If I don't see those documents in my house before nine o'clock this evening, don't bother to come and apologize, just pack your things, leave the car and house as well as the documents on the table, and go because you're fired.” Kevin said, turned, entered his car, and left. Cassie wasn't really worried because the last time he said that, she finished the work on time. “In! What is the time?” Cassie asked. “It’s seven thirty okay?” Marina answered. When Cassie turned and saw the documents and files in front of her dressing mirror, she screamed. Marina and Mrs Baron rushed into Cassie's room. “What is your problem, Cassie?” Mrs Baron demanded. “Mom, I'm fine, I just need to be alone for the next one and a half hours cause I have a lot of things to work on.” She answered and told them to shut the door when they were on their way out. An hour later, Cassie's phone rang, “Hello, who's on the line please?” “It’s Red Cassie, I called to check up on you. How are things going?” “Thanks for calling Red, can you please come to my house right away, I need you to do something for me. Please??” “Okay, I'm on my way now, I'll be there in a sec.” Red entered his car and drove off to Cassie's apartment. “Cassie! Your friend is here to see you.” Mrs Baron screamed out to her. “Let him into my room, Momm.” Cassie narrated everything that happened to Red and asked him to help her out with the work. It was eight fifty-five when they were done with the work. Cassie quickly removed her dress and wore another one. “Sorry that you had to see me in my bra and pants but it's an emergency. I hope you understand.” Red smiled and shook his head. “Can you please do something for me? Please help me close my zip, don't be shy, just hurry up. We have to meet Mr Kevin by nine o'clock or I might lose my job.” Red pulled up the zip to close, they jumped into Red’s car. It was nine twenty when they got to Mr Kevin's house. “You are twenty minutes late Miss Cassie Baron. I told you I don't allow anyone in or out of my house by nine o'clock so why did you come here if you knew you would go back?” Kevin questioned. In wonder, Cassie asked, “Did you? You never told me the time at which you let people in or out of your house sir. I'm sorry if I have violated your rule but sir I'm done with the work so I brought it.” Cassie handed over the files and documents to Kevin. Suddenly, it started raining, the weather was so stormy that the maid in the house had to close the opened windows to the rain from entering the house. After a few glances through the documents, Kevin stood up and lisped, “Well I'll be in my room then, in case you need anything, the maid is at your service and in case the rain doesn't stop, she will give you a room to spend the night. Good night and see you tomorrow.” Kevin walked away and climbed the long coiled stairs. Kevin's house was however a mansion, from the interior designs to the exterior ones, it was so beautiful. Cassie could not help but wonder how much money Kevin had. “Why are you lost in your thoughts? Do you have any problems?” Red asked, looking at how tense she was. “I’m okay Red, I'm just wondering how long this rain will take. I've never stayed away from home ever so I know my mom would be worried.” “Why do you have to worry when I'm here. (Pulled out his hands and held Cassie's own) I've got your back, Cassie. Never will I leave you.” “Can I ask you something? Why do you care a lot about me? You barely know me yet you've been so good to me.” So Cassie and Red began to talk and laugh. The maid came to show them their various rooms since the rain did not stop. Cassie showered and took a shirt in the wardrobe to wear. The shirt was long enough to cover her up to above her knees. She sat on her bed to get her mom to tell her that because of the rain, she wouldn't be coming. “Can I come in?” A voice said from the doorway. “Who’s there? Come in.” As the door opened, Red walked in. He was in blue and white striped pajamas. It was too big for his skinny body. Cassie suddenly burst into laughter, she was laughing so hard. “Where did you get that thing from? Who gave you these big pajamas?” “I found it in the wardrobe, so I had to take it and wear it since I have nothing to wear.” “But do you know what you look like?” “No, just tell me.” “You look like a spaceship.” Before Cassie could realize Red started following her so she ran. They ran out of the room. While Cassie was running downstairs, she clashed with Kevin who had a coffee cup filled with coffee in it. Cassie did not know what to do, she stared at him with her mouth open wondering what would happen.
