ZARA’S POV
The news hit like a c***k. I stood in one spot for several minutes and didn’t hear the next words Cael said. His lips were moving but I couldn’t make out the words. By the time the ringing in my head cleared, he was holding me by the shoulder.
“Are you okay?” he asked carefully.
“No,” I shook my head sideways. “It is impossible for me to be okay. What did you say before? Who died?”
“The housekeeper at the villa,” he muttered.
“Aurora Davies… that was her name. She told me right before we left,” I muttered. My emotions were all over the place and I was near tears. “Are you sure she is dead? Maybe there is a mistake somewhere.”
He bent his head in resignation, “There is no mistake. I double, no, triple checked. She was found hanging in her living room. It made the news.”
