ZARA’S POV
I stared at him in disbelief. He was calm and collected even though he had just dropped a bombshell. In the heat of the moment, the waiter arrived with what we had ordered. Gabriel had ordered a cocktail too so I took a sip of that first. Maybe I believed it would help clear my head.
He looked at me, smiling, “You look like you are about to reject me.”
“Of course,” I replied in a straightforward manner. “Out of the several absurd things I have heard in my life, this was the most absurd of them all.”
“What made it so absurd?” he asked, his facial expression barely changing. “Was it my sudden proposal? Was it because you are a married woman? Was it because you thought you’re not attractive enough to get men drooling over you?”
I scoffed, “I know I am an attractive woman.”
