ZARA’S POV
I froze for a moment there and as she neared me, I knew I had to act fast. I got into my car instantly and while she ran towards me, I drove the car outside the garage and towards the main gate. Kate still chased after me and the security guard at the gate looked confused.
“Hey, don’t you know me? Open the damn gate!” I barked at him.
That seemed to help him make a quick decision. I drove outside and could no longer see Kate behind me. She wasn’t young, it wouldn’t make sense for her to have run all the way.
Feeling triumphant, I started to listen to music. I felt like an unruly teenager who had just ran away from home. At the same time, I wondered how I would face Kate later today. I would have a lot of explanation to do.
