Chapter 10.
The sounds of many people rang through the couple's ears by the time they had reached the park as Jake could see the number of them coming and going as they pleased. Stepping out of the car, they took in the sights right in front of them as they walked through the entrance way witnessing every individual young and old alike enjoying themselves as much as they could possible. Families were over at the Midway Game Section playing different types of games to win valuable prizes, while some teens were jamming along to some tunes due to there being live music and entertainment coming from group bands that were putting on a show of a lifetime.
The rich smells of popcorn, hotdogs, hamburgers, and cotton candy were intoxicating to the noses as Jake licked his lips to head off towards the the concession stands while George followed chuckling. "We just had a pizza and now you're ready to sink your teeth into something else?"
"Hey, I'm a growing boy I need to keep up my weight you know. My Aunt's been nagging me to eat more since at times I barely eat enough at home due to me having to be at school so early." Both males chuckled as they were looking towards the hotdog menu to see what would be edible.
"Okay, I admit, this hotdog is good especially with the sauerkraut on top. It's been awhile since I had some."
"You can never go wrong with food, it's just so delicious once you send your tastebuds on a journey that is an unforgettable experience not to mention the stomach that can feel anything going down and will leave you in natural bliss." He wrote chuckled once more.
"You do have a way with words don't you? is that why you are so excelling in English?" Jacob blushed a slight pink blush wondering if he should take that as a compliment; after all, the adult has not said one bad thing all day but it was always good to be up on your toes to see if he were to change his persona anytime soon.
He doubted that though since the guy was literally like a walking angelic like God but with a soft and warmhearted attitude as well. He could get used to him always.
"I just hope I don't bump into anyone I recognize." He hoped as they discarded their wrappers into a nearby bin and continued on their trek. Along the way, a familiar face could be seen over by the merchandise tables as they were busy scanning over some lovely necklaces and hats that were neatly placed on the shelves; mentally groaning seeing that it was none other than Brad, Jake quietly hurried away not wanting to bump into him knowing just how much the tall jock would have a Field day to want to pick on him. As soon as the coast was clear, he then started to walk at a normal pace but was soon halted by Mr. Calloway who wanted to show him a cd that he had gotten from a nearby vendor who was selling them at a reasonable price especially with songs between the 60's and the 90's era.
"Wow, I never knew you were a Beatles Fan, you must have had posters all over your wall back then huh?" Jake smirked seeing a slight blush on his Teacher's face who soon slowly nodded.
"Yes indeed I did, my dream was to fly to Europe to see them perform live, but we never flew out of state before. We've been to some places out of the 50 states, but not out of the country. Hopefully someday soon rather sooner than later, I will be able to fly anywhere I would like to go to-even if it's going to Amsterdam." Jake smiled seeing the full determination within the elder's eyes as he quickly looked away not wanting to say something that would make him look like a lovesick puppy, but the happy atmosphere was soon interrupted by none other than Brad himself who gave out a smirk recognizing the teen male.
"Well, if it isn't the homo hoe, never thought I'd see you here at a Jamboree, thought your place was always the Library due to you being such a nerd and all especially a gay one at that."
"Nice to see you too Brad, never thought you'd be here either due to your reputation being a jock, thought you'd be at Football Practice."
"FYI Fag, today's my Mom's birthday, so I thought I'd come here and see what I could find that would be valuable. And who is he anyway? another one of your group of Misfits perhaps?" He smirked as Jake was about to open his mouth, but George soon took the reins to introduce himself.
"Pleasure to meet you there Mr. Holloway, my name is George Calloway, the new English Teacher. Judging by your personality, I see that you have been taking quite the pleasure of bullying young Mr. Parker am I correct?" Brad soon broke out in a cold sweat realizing what he had just done; he didn't think that a school teacher would have the guts of scolding him especially in broad daylight.
"Sir, uh I-I mean, Mr. Calloway, it's all just for fun, I swear, right Jake? I didn't mean any harm by calling him those names.
"Ah I see, so by calling him those derogatory names due to his orientation, you judge him by throwing any type of word that you can think of because it will make yourself feel good at the end of it all?" Jake was surprised! Never has anyone besides Mel and Alex stood up and defended him like that especially if that someone was a bully towards him for a couple of years that back then had to even wear dark sun shades due to getting bruises, and black eyes after getting pounded. In a way, it was rather sweet...
"Well Mr. Holloway, I believe that you owe Mr. Parker an apology." George said in a modest but stern tone seeing the teen nod and gave Jake the rightful one that he truly deserved as they both walked away not even giving Brad a glance but soon, he stopped yet again. "Plus of course, I would need for you to write an 800 word essay on why derogatory name calling is wrong and you have until Next Friday to get it done, am I clear?"
"Yes Sir, perfectly clear." Brad said in a defeated tone soon walking away.
"Wow, that was definitely badass of you to stand up to him like that. Thanks, but you didn't have to, I'm old enough to fight my own battles." A large hand was soon placed on his shoulder sending shockwaves of warmth within him.
"It was no trouble at all, and no thank you is necessary, no student of mine should have to feel obligated to any form of bullying that they do not rightfully deserve; take it from me who also had to deal with it since my own high school years, is that it will only manifest itself until you have the courage to speak up about it; and you should never get mad, but to be even as well; doing so, will see that you are not stooping down to their level."
Eyes twinkling in merriment as well as a blush forming on his cheeks, they were soon on their way once again to do more exploring.
