Family gatherings are always eventful

Chapter Seven

Seeing my mom at the entrance something seems off. She looks nervous and scared for some reason. Which is weird because my mother never acted in this fashion before. I walk up to her and give her and my dad a kiss on the cheek. The same goes for auntie Jade and uncle Jack. Slapping Edward in the back of his head. I stand next to him.

We stand there waiting for them to come. Standing there I see my mom tense up once she sees the black cars coming our way. I don’t understand why though. That’s because those people can’t be trusted. I hear Artemis say in my head. I stood there shocked because I can’t believe she just said that.

Seeing the cars pull up. I see a man step out. He’s tall dark black hair like my mom with green eyes. He’s not that fit. But he is in a little shape. I see a woman come out right after him. She’s not as tall but she’s not short either. Blonde hair long all down her back. Then two people come out the back. They look just like their parents. You can tell that they're a family. I see some men and two other girls get out of the other car. I don’t know who they are. I’m interested in finding out though.

I see the man walk up to my mom with a big smile on his face. The problem for me is that the smile on his face doesn’t look good. It almost looks sinister.My mom hugs him back and then hugs the lady. So on and so forth with all the adults.

After they all say their hellos to each other. My uncle walked towards his kids. My mom turns to me and motions for me to come beside her. Brother you remember your niece Athena.Of course I do sister he says as he gives me a hug. How can I forget such a special person? The way he saids that sends chills up my body. I hug him back and say my hellos.

After everything is said and done. We all head inside. Victor, we have your rooms ready. On the third floor . I know you guys must be a little tired. So Mary lou here is going to show you guys the way. Go ahead and freshen up. We’ll meet later on for lunch. Thank you sister. I really do need a shower and so. A change of clothing would be nice too.

Mary lou leads the way and they all follow. Kelly isn’t paying attention to anything but her phone. She didn't even want to say hello. Brandon is just staring at me. It actually makes me feel some type of way.

I look at my mom who I see looking at uncle Victor as he walks away. Dad walks up to me and Sheila. Hello girls, how is your day going so far? We look at him and smile. Sheila bows as he is alpha. We’re okay dad. What’s up with you? I need you girls to do me a favor. Show Kelly around to keep her company. You know all that stuff.

Sure dad no problem you can count on us. He looks at Edward and says. Same for you Brandon you know. Edward bows you got it sir. Dad walks away leaving us in the spot. See you girls later . I’ll be around until your cousin comes down.

Staring at Edward as he walks away. Shell starts again. So outfits, mines a dress for all night. I can’t change like you cause you're the birthday girl. I’m just mad that your next outfit is jeans. Why couldn’t you change into another dress.

You know dresses aren’t my style. Plus I need to be comfortable. If I’m going to be around people I don’t even know. Some I just don’t like. You know that already. Why are you being so difficult with me?

You only turn eighteen once in your life, girl. I think you should be living it up. Going crazy taking trips. We should be going everywhere. You know what I mean?

I know what you mean. I do, but after my birthday. We’ll go do all those things you want to do. Before I have to go to the academy. I have at least three months until then. So we can have a little fun with the time.

Okay but even if we don’t go everywhere, at least we can go to paris. That’s like a must. Promise me Athena. I promise you Sheila that we will go to paris. We made it back in the house and headed to the arcade room. We have about three skeeball machines and two pac-man. We have four jet-ball alley’s as well as two motorbikes too. We have 4 four basketball ones too. It’s pretty cool here. Also there is a secret door in here too. That no one knows about.

Me and Shell jump on the motorbikes. We love to race each other here . We also have the highest scores. After jumping from game to game. We get a mindlink that it’s time for lunch.We finished our last race together. Head towards the dining room. Seeing my uncle and his family must really have my mom going crazy.

She’s been acting a little weird since they got here. Not to mention Artemis told me not to trust them either. Something weird is going on here. I don’t know what it is yet. I have to find out though.

We head inside and I see that the table has been changed. We have a table where you can add pieces to make it bigger and take away when we need to as well. Now I know why my mother was always talking about how perfect it is for us.

All the adults are already seated. They were just waiting for us to arrive. Me and Shell take our seats and dad starts talking.

Thank you all for joining us. We are grateful and honored that you guys made it to celebrate with us. I’m sure thena does as well. I say we start eating right? Let’s enjoy our lunch, guys dig in! He sits down and everyone starts to make their plates.

So Athena are you excited about turning eighteen. You only turn eighteen once in your life you know. I bet you can’t wait to meet your mate as well. Are you excited about that too?

You know auntie I am excited about my whole eighteenth birthday stuff. The mate part not so much. I don’t think I’m ready for that part of my life just yet. Right still a little girl then. Uncle Victor says.

Kelly, do you have a mate already? I see from the corner of my eye my dad and Edward are hiding their laughter. I'm sorry uncle, I didn't know that not rushing to your mate makes someone a child. I truly do apologize for that.

Brandon is looking at me like if I just try to kill him or something. If looks could kill I would surely be dead. As would everyone else in the room. I turn away from Brandon because now he’s just creeping me out. My uncle sees the tension and decides to chime in. So are you at least excited about your party? It should be a special day. The way he says it sends a shiver through my body.I am uncle it is my special day after all. It should be a blast.

So when are you due at the academy? Bradon asks. I’m due in four months. It doesn’t start until June. So I’ve got some time before I’m due there. What about you? How was it? You went already right?

Yea I went,it was pretty tuff though. Do you think you can handle all of that? I do think I can. Not to brag or anything but I am number one here. Everyone knows it as well. I’m not someone to play with.

Brandon looks at me and says. You better watch what you say. Someone might want to play with you one day. Not in a nice way either. Well I welcome them to do so. I honestly don’t think they're going to get very far.

By the time we’re done with the food. We are all in total silence. The only one to speak was my dad. I hope everyone had a good meal. As I said before, I’ll say it again. We are all glad you're here. Enjoy your time and make yourselves at home. I have some work to do so excuse me. In the meantime any of my omegas are around. So if you need anything just ask.

Dad gets up, kisses my mom on the cheek then leaves. I get up and walk away. Straight to my room I go or so I thought. My stop me right as the stairs. I believe dad already spoke to you. So why are you walking away like he didn’t? Turning around I put a smile on my face. Hey Kelly, would you like to go to the game room?

Sure I guess I have no choice. Follow me I say and start walking to the game room. I see my mom talking with my uncle and aunt. But she looks like she’s uncomfortable. I don't know why. I can’t put my finger on it but I know it has something to do with uncle Victor. We started to play pool. By the second round Kelly is ready to stop and try something else.

I’m going to tell my dad. We have to get these games in our pack house too. It’s pretty cool, you know. Having a arcade in the house is easy access. I’m down for it any time. Yeah it is pretty cool. I love to come here after training. It helps me calm down a little, you know.

Yeah I get what you mean. Hey, can I ask you something? Sure go ahead no need to ask. Is it true that you're like a warrior princess? I heard rumors about you. We all have to be honest. I wouldn’t call myself that but some people do. I’m good at what I do. I make sure to pay attention all the time. I train so I can always be ready for anything. You should just be careful Athena. Don’t trust anyone. You seem to be truly special, you know. She starts to walk to the door. I’m going to take a nap. Thank you for playing with me though. It was fun while it lasted.

Off she went walking to her room. I stood there kind of shocked. Why would she say that? I mean does that mean something? Why do I feel so creeped out all of a sudden? I walked out the game room and up to my room.

I don’t know why but I need a good shower and a nap before dinner. I close the door behind me and walk straight into my bathroom. Taking off my clothes I look in the mirror.

Hey Artemis, how's it going in there? Are you okay? Do you feel as creepy as I do about my family? Why would you say not to trust them? To stay away.

I do get the creepy feeling from them. I can’t really explain it but I don’t think we can trust them. Something feels off about it. I just can’t figure it out. Athena makes sure you stay on your toes okay. I have to be in hiding but you are you. Always remember that okay. Never forget it.

Okay I won’t I say as I walk in my shower. Turning on the water I sit down on the floor. Enjoying the water and all I didn’t even notice I fell asleep. Waking up to cold water hitting me. Letting me know I’ve reached my limit. I get up, wash myself and get out. Putting on some pjs I look at the time. I still have about an hour. Which is good enough for more sleep. Laying down I drift off into dream land.
