Chapter nine

Waking up the next morning I head straight for the bathroom. Walking to the mirror I say. Good morning Artemis, happy birthday. How are you feeling today? Are you excited?

Happy birthday!! And yes I’m excited. I am really excited about shifting today. I finally get to stretch my legs. I can’t wait to be honest.

Well I was excited about everything at first. Now I’m just feeling anxious now. You messed up my stomach girl.

I told you. You will be fine, just let me do all the work. There’s no worries when you have me for a wolf. It’s going to be easy, trust me.

I trust you Artemis. I just don’t trust myself. I’m scared but I promise I’m still excited.

Well thats good news. Now get washed up and get ready. We have a long day ahead of us.

I jump in the shower to take a quick rinse. I’m not going to take my time because I have to get ready later on today. We will see each other later on tonight.

Smiling, I walk away from the mirror and jump straight into the shower. Washing myself up quickly I get out and head to the sink. Brush my teeth and out the door I go. I threw on this simple t-shirt dress. Some flats and putting my hair up. I hear a loud bang on my door.

Already knowing who it is, I opened it. Shelia, Edward,Aaliya, Nellie, and Nyle. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATHENA!!!! They all scream together at the same time.

Thank you you guys. Even though I told ya not to do it. You guys still did. Shelia runs up to me and hugs me really tight. Happy birthday bestie!! I love you thousands and wish you many more. Seriously though are you ready to party?

Can I get some breakfast first woman? Is that possible? Hell yea cause then after that we get to party. So let’s go get a move on people. Start lending the way to the food. Please and thank you.

All of us start walking down to the dining area. As soon as the door opens everyone starts yelling happy birthday. I smile a big smile and say thank you to everyone.

I get to my mom and dad and hug them. Happy birthday my warrior princess. Daddy loves you always. No matter how old you get. Thanks dad I love you too.

Happy birthday again sweet heart. Thanks mom. What does she mean happy birthday again? She kind of beat you to it last night. I was the first person to say it.

Happy birthday sweet pea, auntie jade and uncle jack say. Uncle Luis and auntie Elle right behind them. Happy birthday baby girl. Giving them hugs I say thank you.

Everyone starts to sit down and what not. Alpha Eric comes to me and gives me a hug. When I hug him back the scent catches my nose. Mate! Mate! Artemis says.Are you crazy girl? Alpha Eric can not be our mate. He’s already mated to someone. For years and had two grown pups you have lost your mind.

Next up is luna Stella. I give her a tight hug and say thank you. Everyone is almost seated. Some even decided to stand up. I was over to the serving table. I see my aunt and uncle there. Oh happy birthday my lovely niece. Aunt Leslie says. They way she says it though. Has hairs standing on my neck. Uncle Victor is next and him even worse. He hugs me and sends shivers down my back.

Not in a good way either. In a creepy I don’t like this feeling way. I say thank you to be polite and keep it moving. I serve myself some breakfast and head straight to Shelia. We are sitting at the bar were all the drinks are. I see alpha Eric walking my way again. He grabs a coffee cup and serves himself. So sweet girl are you ready for tonight?

I saw his lips moving but I wasn’t hearing what he was saying. This scent he has on him is driving me crazy. I can’t explain it. It’s so chocolatey. I can’t help but want to take a bite out of him.

Oh sorry alpha Eric. I just went to lala land for a few. It’s ok darling. I was just saying how it’s an honor to be here. To be able to celebrate with my two closest friends. The eighteenth birthday of their only child.

Well alpha Eric you ain’t never lie about that. We burst into laughter. Of course it would be Shelia to say such a thing. With that he walks away. I see my mom coming to me though. So sweetie everything is almost ready. The finishing touches are being done as we speak.

Everything should be ready at exactly six. So you have about five hours to get ready. Is that good enough for you Shelia. I turned around to see what her response was. She turns to my mom and puts her thumbs up. Apparently her mouth is too full to answer my mother directly.

Me and mom start dying in laughter. Somethings about you never change Shelia. That is a beautiful thing you know. Don’t you ever change baby girl. She says to Shelia as she’s walking away. I walk towards the door to try and peek outside. Of course that doesn’t happen. Luna Stella stops me right in my steps. Nice try darling but your mom said block your every path. So no matter which way you turn. Someone will be there to stop you from seeing it. She wants it to be a surprise you know.

That woman always wants something to be a surprise. She is just full of them all the time. We both laugh. I’ll see you later than Luna Stella. I walk over to the table of food again. Looking for some fruit. He comes to Alpha Eric again.

I see we are making the same stops this morning. There goes that scent again. Invading my nostrils without paying rent. Yeah I guess great minds think alike.

Ask him Athena. Ask him where that scent is coming from? Why does he have it on him? Ask him, I’m pretty sure he knows. I can’t do that Artemis. I would look crazy asking him such a question. Have you lost your mind wolf?

He’s walking away. Will you hurry up and just ask him. I stand there just looking at alpha Eric walk away. Damn Athena your a punk. I tell myself. You need to find out where that scent is coming from.

Alright everyone who is getting ready with the birthday girls let’s get a move on. It’s time to start. We don’t have much time. I couldn’t help but laugh at Shelia. She was seriously saying that.

Girl I just told you that you had five hours, my mother says. How you going to stand there and say there’s not enough time? Everyone is bursting into laughter at this point. All of the girls get up and start walking to Shelia. As I do the same. Shells just meet me upstairs I want to do something real quick first.

Walking towards alpha Eric I see him looking at me. Smiling with a big smile one his face. Well hello there again birthday girl. How can I be of service? I just stand there because I feel a little stupid that I’m about to ask this. He doesn’t even give me a chance to do so.

I was wondering when you were going to ask me. I made sure I hugged him this morning before coming down. He didn’t want to come down and make a big fuss about it. I, on the other hand, couldn't help myself. I had to get the show on the road for you guys.

He thinks you don’t want him because of the whole mate thing you said. I don’t believe that though. I think you will come around to him. Make him yours and him the same.

I stood there in shock. I can’t believe it. Lenny is my mate.Can I ask you a quick question alpha Eric. He nods back at me as in saying go ahead. How old is your son? He’s twenty years old darling. Thank you alpha.

Start to walk away but he stops me. Are you going to find him? Yes I am, and with that I’m out of the room and going up the stairs. I go up to the second floor. That’s where him and his family were placed. Once I hit the top the scent becomes stronger. I don’t even have to guess where his room is. His scent is leading me straight to him. As I’m walking to the door all I can think about. Was the fact that he knew yesterday. He knew I was his mate and didn’t say a word.

Why didn’t he tell me anything. I mean I know he thought I didn’t want him,because of everything I said about mates.He could have at least spoken to me first.I would have given him an honest answer. I can tell I’m getting closer to him though. It looks like they placed him at the end of the hall.

I finally reached the end of the hall. I’m a little hesitant to knock on the door. Not because I don’t want him, but because I’m scared. Right when I’m about to knock the door flies open. There he is my handsome looking mate. Dressed up looking so good. His scent isn’t helping me either. We both stand there looking at each other. It just happened so fast. It was like word vomit. I couldn’t help myself. Mate!!
