Three days and nothing.
I'd told her no timeline. I meant it. But meaning it and living inside it were different things entirely, and I was living inside it now.
I called Mia on the second day.
She answered immediately as always, and I heard the background sounds of wherever she was, something institutional and low, and I started talking before she could ask.
