He stood up and turned to me. His eyes were like diamonds, his lips neatly curved like a craft work. His body was like an athlete's. He wore sneakers with shorts…I think I know this face,I said to my self, was still trying to process the face when he speaks.. "You can come over and watch me perform. I am here for the show. Come on," he said and brought out his hand for me to hold. I was about to hold his hand when someone hugged him from the back. "Kendra!" That was my sister, Syra. "Kendra? I said to myself, still confused. Which Kendra? I took a deep look at his face and that was when I noticed the mark on his arm. I stood up immediately, shocked. Kendra smiled at Syra and turned to me again. "Are you still coming? "Kendra? I asked, looking at him in shock. He smiled and turned to leave. "Kendra, we have been talking for a while and somehow I lost your contact, remember? Kira..." "Kendra, come on, I can’t wait to see you perform!" Syra cut in and put her hands around Kendra's arm. I froze for a moment at Syra's sudden behavior and wondered how Kendra suddenly forgot me. "Come on Kira, you're going to love this!" My father beckoned for me to come over. I stood and followed them. From behind, Syra laughed happily, talking to Kendra as they moved. Kendra just nodded, and upon getting to the spot, he shifted and entered the scene. People hailed him as he dropped his bag; a spark flew from his eyes and struck a heavy dragon brought for a fight. Kendra twisted his lips and flew like a bird, landing on the back of the dragon. I knew Kendra and his tiny flames back then, but he must have learned a lot in England during the few years he spent there. People hailed him as he flew down gently, and applause roared from the gathering. At some point, I became tired. I didn't know whether he acted that way because he just got back or if he really didn’t recognize me. People started leaving one after the other as the event ended. "That was really amazing," my father said, turning towards us. "Guess what?" he said, looking at me and Syra. Syra didn’t pay much attention; she was looking around for Kendra and where he had gone. My father brought out two papers and handed one to me and one to Syra. I opened mine. “Congrats, you have been offered admission to Regalis Magic Academy.” I quickly turned to my father. I knew he hated anything magic, which was why he forbade Syra from using hers. "Daddy, why all of a sudden?" Syra didn’t say anything; she just kept looking at the paper. "I have had this plan for a long time and looked forward to the best time to present it, and I feel it is today. One can’t fully be themselves without strength. You need that to survive; you need that inner power to fight. So, I decided to give you and your sister the opportunity to see new things, meet new people in a different world, and gain new abilities to add to what you have. Get ready by next week; your trip to England will be set." I hugged my father tightly. I have always wanted this. I hated being nicknamed "Empty Talent" while growing up, and I had always begged my father to permit me to go to this school. I guess he finally did. Syra still didn’t say anything; she just kept glancing at the paper. "Syra," my father called her, "aren’t you happy? I thought you always wanted this? But please, not that type of your magic; I want you to learn new things, you know." Syra breathed in heavily. "Father, why must everything happen on Kira's birthday? I wanted this, but must it be on her birthday? And why the same institution? And the same... same level?she starmmared on the last sentence.. I froze and turned to her. "Syra! She forced herself to hug my father. He didn’t reply to her; he just hugged her back. "Syra, what’s wrong if it is presented on my birthday and we go to the same institution? Are you not my sister?" "Kira, stop being manipulative. You always do that, just stop it." "You know what," my father cut in, "if you girls won’t stop fighting, I will take those away from you and you can forget about going." Syra forced a smile and hugged my father. It was at that moment I noticed everywhere was empty; the people had gone. My father led us out of the place and we headed back to our hotel, which was not far from where we were. Syra and I shared one room, and my father had another. Getting to the hotel and our room, my father headed down to order some food. Syra entered the room, followed by me. She was still unhappy, and it showed on her face. "Syra... why are you angry? Is there anything bad about being in the same school as me?" "Shut up, Kira! You always have a way into father's heart, and you won. First, he lets you make a wish he never does that for me and now this? Going to England?" "Syra, it's not just me, it's both of us. The school is for both of us." "Oh, shut up, Kira! What do you know about magic? Do you have any? What are you going there to do? You want to be like me? "Syra!!!" "Answer me Kira, and stop calling my name! You want to be like me? Mind you, you can never grow past this. I am your senior sister, Kira! I said senior! Know that, and know that it should always be me first!" "Syra!!" I screamed her name.
