One thing syra hates the most is been challenged, she hates been challenged and belittled that’s why she always mixed up with people at the top,I bet she browse about those her new friends before coming to them.. "Oh please, just get off! I choose what I want and what I like. I paid it all off, so you have to find your way. I don’t stay with blacks!" The door slammed. I stood up, hearing the voice from outside followed by the sound of the door. I got to my door and opened it; a girl was sitting on the floor with her box, her face bent as she cried. I looked around but couldn't see anyone else. "Hey,I am Kira? you? She didn’t look up, her head still bent. "I heard voices from inside... but if you don’t mind, you can come inside to my room. I stay alone." She looked up after my last sentence, her eyes filled with tears. I helped her stand up and carried her bags inside. She looked around my room, still shaking, and sat on the empty bed opposite mine. "Sorry, what happened? Why would your roommate throw you out?" "I..." she stammered. "I am Level 0. She was meant to be my guardian, but she got mad because her crush was asking me out. She got angry and threw me out, claiming she doesn't associate with blacks." "You are Level 0? Which means you don’t have any power or magic? Is that what they call people with no magic?" She nodded without saying anything. "For how long have you been here? Since she is your guardian, why didn’t you learn?" She shook her head slowly. "It’s not easy once you don’t have anything inside. I've been here for three years. People avoid me because I am empty." My eyes flew open. "Three years? And nothing?" Tears flowed down her face and she knelt down. I immediately held her up. "Please don’t do that. I... I am actually like you, just that I arrived today. I don’t have anything; I am totally empty. I am just here to see if I could learn. I don't know how it will go." She looked up at me slowly and stood up. "My name is Kira," I said, reaching out my hand. "I am Ara," she said. "You mean you don’t have anything? Then why are you here? You know," she came close to my bed and sat down, "I am still here because I don’t want my family to see me as useless. Where I come from, we survive by magic. All my siblings have magic except me. Now I have just two years left to stay here and I am scared of going back home. I can’t leave either; they would disown me." "Ara," I said, holding her shoulder, "at least you still have two years. Within those two years, what if you finally learn?" She shook her head. "How? I tried, but nothing. I think out of this whole school, I am the only one who is empty." "Don’t say that, Ara," I said, holding her shoulder tighter. "Just calm down. Maybe you are putting too much pressure on it. Just calm down, okay?" "Kira," she said, looking at me, "I would advise you not to become like me. You won't enjoy it here. Nobody likes me. Everybody calls me 'Emptiness'—they shorten it to 'Emp.' That’s my nickname here." She wiped her eyes and continued. "I would advise you to leave, Kira. It’s not too late." My heart dropped for a moment. My mind flew back to what Syra said, and now this person. *Would I learn?* I asked myself. "Ara, I am staying. I am here already and I don’t care what people say. I am not going to stay away from you just because you are empty like me. We will learn together, okay?" She smiled and hugged me. "It’s already 7 PM. Come on, we have evening ranks this evening for newbies. You would love it," she said, holding my hand. "You might meet your charming prince or mate this evening." I scoffed. "I’ve heard that a lot. I am not interested in anybody, but I’ll go to see them display what they’ve got." I stood up and went to my box. I picked out the pink gown I love so much. I put it on and let my hair down. I was about to comb it when Ara touched my hair, her mouth falling open. "Wow, silver!" she said, looking at it. "Silver color?" I asked, looking at her. "What do you mean? It's just mixed with my golden hair." "Kira, are you for real?" She turned me to face her. "That color is rare. Take this." She brought out a black cap and handed it to me. I looked at the cap, confused. "Why?" "Nothing," Ara said, still offering the cap. "Just cover your hair, for now at least." I didn’t argue. I took the cap and put it on. She led the way out. Outside, the compound was filled with people chatting. I noticed how they drifted their eyes toward Ara and me, but I didn’t pay attention. Ara led the way to the field where the rehearsal was happening. Flames were flying through the air, and I saw people jumping up and displaying many talents. A boy walked past and snatched something from my clothes. I immediately held him back. He closed his hands, laughing. "Open it now!" "You sure, huh?" he asked, laughing. "I said open it!" Before I finished the sentence, he opened his hand and a black bird flew away from his tiny palms. I staggered back and froze. He laughed and turned to leave. "I warned you!" "What was that?" I turned to Ara. Ara smiled. "You will see many more like that." I heard girls laughing behind me and immediately recognized the voice. Turning back, I saw Syra talking with Clara and Flora. At first, they acted like they didn't see me, but I walked up to them and held Syra’s hand. She snatched it away and turned to me. "Kira, what are you doing with this 'Emp'?" Clara laughed and passed by, followed by Flora. "How do you know her? Because they told you? What am I even saying," Syra cut in. "Of course, you followed your match. Very shameful." She walked away, and I watched her for some time. "Kira, I'll be going inside," Ara said. "No, hold on, Ara. I am sorry, she is my sister, but don’t..." "Kira, don’t worry, just have fun. Besides, it’s your first night." I was about to hold her when I bumped into someone who caught me immediately. He hugged me, using one of his hands to rest my head on his chest. I quickly pulled away and looked up. My heart froze. "Kendra?!!" He smiled and turned to me. "Do I know you?" Voices were heard from behind. Many students rushed to him, some videoing him. He smiled and waved at them, then turned back to me. "You are?" he asked, looking deep into my eyes. "Hey, Kendra!" Syra rushed to him and hugged him from behind. Kendra turned to her. "Syra?" Syra nodded, still holding him. "Kendra, I was happy when I heard you were still here as the ultimate." He smiled and turned back to me. "You new, too?" I was surprised at his behavior. How could he totally forget me but still remember my sister? I turned quickly to leave. He caught my hand. "Sorry? Don’t walk away like that. I am Kendra, and people don’t just walk away from me. I am still talking to you. Who are you!?" I scoffed. What does he think he is? I asked myself. Just because I once loved him doesn't mean I will respect him. "Hey, now let me go! I screamed, looking at him.
