Chapter 2

Emily was in a better mood after a night of undisturbed rest. However, images of her foster parents and Rocco soon flooded her mind. Looking at the beautiful bouquet of roses only helped distract her mind momentarily.

After washing up, Emily walked from the convenience store to the college with a sense of apprehension. Somehow, she had an ominous feeling that something bad would soon happen. As she walked reached the front of the college, her foster parents suddenly appeared in front of her. They began to question her angrily why she ignored her calls and did not go home the previous night.

“My... my battery ran out last night,” Emily replied meekly.

“Don’t you give us that attitude!” Her foster parents yelled angrily, “Who do you think you are? Don’t you know how hard we worked to raise you? We took you in when no one wanted you. We raised you and paid for your education. How could you repay us with such behavior?”

Emily bowed her head and accepted her foster parents’ rebuke as she always did for years. She was both upset by their allegations but was helpless to defend herself. Her foster parents said that she had no regard for her family’s well-being, but she had already sacrificed so much and spent almost all of her energy taking care of her brother. Although they accused her of being selfish and self-serving, she had always done her duty even though her foster parents were so mean to her. She kept convincing herself that she would not be where she was today if they had not given her a roof over her head.

A crowd of onlookers gradually gathered around them to watch the unfolding drama. She could feel their piercing stares and criticisms.

“This girl is so ungrateful. Her family had provided her with so much and she can’t even repay them for their kindness.”

“Yes, I am in the same class as her. I heard that her brother is mentally challenged and needs someone to take care of him. I didn’t expect her to be so cold-blooded toward her family.”

“How could she spend the night outside without telling her parents about it? Did she want them to worry over her? She’s so inconsiderate!”

Emily listened helplessly to all the criticisms against her and did not know if she should clarify. She was intimidated by how angry her foster parents looked and all the other judgmental eyes surrounding her. She felt so misunderstood, maligned, and helpless.

Then, out of the blue, a familiar voice sounded behind her.

“What’s going on?” William said with his magnetic and authoritative voice.

Emily turned around in surprise, saw William, and instantly felt relieved and secure.

Johnny and Linda became very defensive and asked, “Who are you? What’s going on here has nothing to do with you. Mind your own business and leave immediately!”

William ignored them, looked at Emily, and asked tenderly, “Emily, how about leaving with me?”

They continued their verbal abuse and accused her of being with a stranger. That was the final straw for Emily and she whispered to William to take her away from there.

“Are you alright?” William asked with concern.

Emily nodded, took a deep breath, and said, “Thank you, Sir. I really don’t know how to thank you. It was so awkward just now.” Emily was at a loss for words. They barely knew each other after she had given him a bottle of migraine medicine the day before.

William asked her what had happened and Emily briefly explained the situation at home that led to this confrontation.

“I’m not ungrateful to them. I just want to have my own life and choices. It’s just...”

“I understand.” William smiled and continued, “It’s horrible to be manipulated, isn’t it?”

Emily looked at him emotionally. This was the first person in the world who understood her.

“Sir, what brings you to the college today? Wasn’t the inspection over yesterday?” Emily asked.

William looked at her and said solemnly, “Emily, I left in a hurry yesterday and haven’t introduced myself to you. My name is William. I’m the executive director of the Solaris Group. As you can see, I didn’t come here without reason. I’m here for you.”

Emily gasped and stuttered, “For... for me?”

William nodded and asked, “I wonder if you like that bouquet of roses I sent to you last night?”

Emily covered her mouth and her eyes widened in surprise. That bouquet of flowers... they... they were from him?!

Without waiting for her to answer, William placed his finger on her lips to stop her from speaking.

“Shush... listen to me. Emily, I have a crush on you, will you be my lover?”

Emily was totally in a state of shock. This man was not any ordinary man. He was so handsome, rich, and powerful. Never in her wildest dreams would she imagine that she would be with such a person. She did not even feel that she deserved such a life.

“Er... Sir... I... I don’t think it’s appropriate. We just...”

“Don’t be in such a hurry to turn this down. I’m offering you a generous deal that I’m sure you’ll be willing to.” William ordered the driver to hand over some documents to her. “Emily, I know you were adopted and are in misery. I will redeem your freedom and from now on you will no longer be harassed by anyone. You can choose to do what you like and pursue your dreams. How’s that for a deal?”

This was truly what she was longing for. A life that she could make her own decisions. However, she was reluctant to make such a hasty decision.

“Sir, I... I will consider it.” She blushed intensely as she lowered her head and bit her lips shyly. “Just give me some time to decide.”

“No problem at all.” William agreed readily and handed her a business card. “Call me anytime once you decided on it”

The car drove around the campus and finally dropped Emily off at her faculty.

Emily sat in a daze for a long time. During this time, her phone continued to receive messages from her foster parents who continued to abuse her via text messages. Eventually, Linda sent her a message: “b***h! I should really chop you up and feed you to the pigs!” She decided immediately to take up William’s offer and start a new life.

That night, Emily dressed up and went to William’s villa.

She took a shower and stood in front of William wrapped in a towel. She had never been in a man’s presence like this before and felt very shy.

“Relax, Emily.” William smiled, held out his hand toward her, and said, “I’ll be gentle.”

After the raunchy session, Emily felt surreal and was at peace as she lay on the bed. She had taken the first step toward her freedom.

In the study.

William sipped his red wine as someone reported to him over the phone. “Hmm.”

“Do not be too anxious. That thing is certainly ours. I’ve already found a solution.”

After the call ended, William drank all the wine in one gulp and looked in the direction of his bedroom with a profound smile.

Emily went to school on time every day and spent her free time with William. She became the woman behind the popular director.

After receiving a large sum of money from William, her foster parents no longer harassed her. This was bittersweet for her as she felt as though she was just an object to them. As long as they profited from it, they would not hesitate to sell her off.

She felt like livestock that they could get rid of when the price was right.

Well, at least it was fortunate for her that these were all behind her now. Emily decided to think about what she should do with her newfound freedom.

Just as she was coming up with a plan, William suggested that she be involved in a research company that would require her to travel to the project site and be involved in the research.

“Of course, William,” Emily said as she lay in his arms and nuzzled William’s neck as she said, “I’ll do whatever you want me to do because I love you.”

William grinned and said, “Emily, you’re a good girl. I love you, too.”

Emily headed to the research center the next day. After some basic physical measurements, the staff placed a pair of special headphones on her and took her into an acoustic chamber. He then made her press a button whenever she hears a beep from the headphones. The frequency of the beeps began to reduce until she could no longer hear them and stopped pressing the button.

“Emily, your hearing abilities are amazing! This is the first time in history that someone could hear at such levels!”

Emily smiled and replied, “Is that so? Then it looks like my ears are pretty good after all.”

Emily went back to the villa after the session was completed. For some reason, she felt that William was very happy today. His eyes lit up immediately after seeing her.

“Emily, my dear, I feel like I really can’t do without you!”

William carried her immediately to the bedroom. He placed her on the bed and lay on top of her. She could feel his crotch pressing against hers and began to yearn for his touch.

“William, darling, will you always love me?” she asked.

“Of course, who else can I love but you? You are my woman and totally belong to me, just as I am yours.”

William began to undress her and his lips wandered over her delicate body.

He was gentle, and respectful, and made Emily feel safer than she had ever felt. She had never experienced anything like this previously. She had been a simple girl for the last twenty years and now this amazing man, who could have any woman he wanted, was totally hers. Emily felt that she had fallen hopelessly for him and was certain that she would marry him and live peacefully ever after. It was like a fairy tale that she read as a kid.

“William, I love you too. I would do anything for you, and we will always be together, right?”

He began to kiss her voraciously and pleasured her until she climaxed. She then fell asleep in his strong and assuring arms.
