"Captain, can you tell us more about the Rainbow nation?" Cody asked, as Abby and Brandon waited in anticipation.
"It is a country to the west of Ngwane. Like us it borders both Thoselo and Zulu. Unlike us it is ruled a royal family."
"Plus it is over run by danger beast such as dia wolves." Brandon added. "Can you handle them Cody?"
"He can handle them better than you can Brandy." Abby mocked Brandon. Abby's statement confused Cody.
"If you say that again I'll punch you."
"Bra...ndy." Abby laughed. "Who knew you were a Mama's boy?"
"Those two are so loud." Linda the captain of the Serpetine complained.
"Let them be. They are still in the season of youth." Ozen chuckled as he set his sight on Cody enjoying himself.
Looking at him now makes me wonder if I should have played a bigger role in their lives. It's been so long that I just don't know what to say to him and his brother. Ozen thought.
As Ozen and his enterouge were nearing the capital of the Rainbow nation, Cody saw a winged reptile flying above them. "Wow a flying lizard."
"Nope, those are called dragons. They are one of the many danger beast in this country."
He really should have paid attention in class. We covered this last year. Abby sighed.
"How do you know so much about Rainbow captain?" Cody asked.
"Back when my mom was still breathing, I used to live here." Trinity answered Cody. "I moved to Ngwane after she died on behalf of my father."
As they entered the city, a crowd of people welcomed them along the streets of the golden brown city of Atlas. As Trinty looked outside he remembered the time he spent here with his two friends, a girl and a boy.
The relationship between these two countries has been wavy for the past year, after the death of the country's previous king. Trinity thought. We need to establish a good relationship again.
While headed to the palace, Cody noticed that almost all the people he saw had this strange dark aura. He turned to the others, but it seemed like they did not notice it. Is Maya the only other person who could see it? Does that mean only abnormals can see it?
"Good infrastructure means prosperous country, is what my father always says." Brandon spoke pulling Cody back to reality. Trinity noticed this behavior.
So he can see it.
The vehicle stopped in front of the golden palace. Brandon and a wyvern knight opened the door for the Magi. Cody jumped off his horse as he now put on his squad jacket. The group of twenty entered the castle after passing a group of thirty guards.
"Welcome your highness." Spoke a man with a crown made of leopard skin decorated with one big crimson feather. Cody suspected that he was the countries ruler, due to the large number of knights following him.
"It's been a long time your majesty." Ozen replied happily, with a slight grin on his face.
"Teacher you don't have to call me your majesty. Mason is just fine." The king requested.
After the shaking of hands Mason lead Linda, Ozen plus twelve other knights to a room. Trinity stayed behind with the rest of the group. He ordered them to go exploring in groups of two. "Be back in two hours."
"Yes sir." They responded.
"Are you sure captain?" Cody asked.
"Definitely. Why don't the three of you come with me. I need to see a friend." The captain asked one of the servants to take them to a person named Ted. They followed the person to the training grounds on the other side of the palace. Along the way Abby kept asking questions about every intriguing thing she saw. The butler tried his best to respond to her questions only for a new to quickly follow. Fearing for the person's sanity, Trinity ordered her to keep quiet.
Brandon was amazed by the architecture of the castle, even his parent's house was not this fancy. Cody on the other hand was looking at the pictures placed across the halls of the palace. He wanted to ask 'who the girl next to the current king was?' but he feared that he might be treated the same way as Abby.
They finally arrived at the training place where Ted was supposed to be. Cody saw tonnes of people his age sparring together.
"This country has more recruits than we do." Abby observed them train. One of the boys who was leaning on the fence glared fiercely at Cody before beginning his own match. He created an ice axe before starting the match.
"What did you expect?" Brandon spoke. "After last week events most people would be afraid to join. Ema for example."
"You mean the girl who sat next to me in class?" Cody asked.
"Yes." Brandon responded. Just as they were about to finish the conversation the boy with the ice axe won. His opponent was out cold and required medical assistance. He looked at Cody before sitting down to rest.
"Do you know him?" Brandon asked Cody.
"Never met him in my life." Cody responded as he spotted faint traces of the black aura around him.
Suddenly a topless man approached the group. He had snow white hair and dark blue eyes. His muscle structure was well defined. "Everyone I would like you to meet my friend Ted Zwane." Trinity placed his hand on Ted's shoulder.
"Now those are goals." Abby pointed at Ted's muscles.
"Isn't Zack's father way more muscular?" Cody questioned her. "Shouldn't he be your goals?"
"Your goals not mine Cody. If you were as muscular as Zack's dad you'd look like a mutant danger beast." Abby responded with her face close to his.
"Those recruits are nimble." Ted laughed.
"So are yours. Are you preparing for the rookie tournament this early?" Trinity raised an eyebrow at his friend.
"What do you think? We won't lose to anyone this year, especially Ngwane." Ted chuckled.
Compared to everyone we've seen so far, Ted doesn't have that wierd aura. Trinity scanned his friend. This is strange.
"How about we have our very own test match?" Trinity suggested.
"Or I see. One of my recruits against one of yours." Ted smiled. "I'm game."
"Cody you're up." Trinity smiled at him.
"Wait why am I being dragged into your squabble sir?" Cody complained.
"I'm your captain and you'll do what I tell you to do. Besides I know you can handle most of those kids." Trinity encouraged him while messing up Cody's hair.
"I'll do it then." The boy motivated himself before stretching.
"And that is what I call, peer pressure." Abby commented, as a sweat dropped.
"More like pressure of expectations. I'm sure glad I didn't join his squad." Brandon added, before he sighed.
As Brandon and Abby watched, Cody got into the field. He was face to face with the boy he saw fighting earlier. The boy was slightly taller than him and he had across an eye. His skin was fair with his hair being white. He cracked his knuckles as he looked at Cody with his blue eyes.
"Is he your kid?" Trinity asked his friend.
"Nope, he is just a fellow clansman. A talented one at that. What about your recruit Trity?"
"He is an abnormal that is able to use the expand technique." Ted turned to Trinity in shock. "He has great potential but I fear that his past and environment might hold him back. That's the reason why I want him to take missions away from the public, although the rest of my squad might pose a problem."
"So you still haven't told them that you are an abnormal yourself?"
"Yes and that's because like here abnormals are mistreated in Ngwane." Trinity responded with a sad look. The boys shook hands in respect as the captains cheered on.
"So your name is Cody, how cute. People call me Colani." The boy spoke, as he prepared to fight.
"Nice to meet you Colani." Cody responded as he created his night staff. Everyone was shocked by this and some questioned why he was allowed to join Ngwane's military.
"It's as if this is the first time they've seen an abnormal." Abby mumbled. Brandon quickly slapped the back of her head.
"If you erupt now you'll cause problems for everyone. Remember that we are not in Ngwane right now." Brandon instructed Abby as he watched the fight.
Cody ran up to Colani before swing his staff. The boy easily evaded it before firing some ice crystals.
A few hit Cody before he successfully evaded the rest. Colani used this chance to attack him with his axe. The dark haired boy blocked it with 'phantom claw' before leaping out of danger.
The Rainbow soldiers cheered for their fellow country men, while the Ngwane knights kept quiet. Everyone but, Abby who was doing majority of the work. She was yelling at the top of her voice, prompting Brandon to move away from her. While walking, he noticed someone who looked like an older version of Tesla pass by in one of the corridors.
Who is that? He wondered.
"So how is she these days?" Trinity asked his friend before Cody blocked the ice crystals with his 'phantom claw.'
"She is doing just fine. Infact she is at the meeting right now." Upon hearing that Trinity's jaw lowered.
Meanwhile in a conference room somewhere in the palace, two groups of people sat down. Ozen cleared his throat before he started speaking.
"Let's get down to business shall we Mr Hlophe." Ozen said while signaling to Linda to step forward. The serpentine captain was wearing a black tuxedo that fitted her body showing all her curves. She had tied her hair into bun and decorated it with a green hair pin with her squad's emblem. She placed two different pictures on the table. One was of Pride, the other belonged to the person Cody and his friends fought.
"These two are metal users that caused a disturbance in my country. One died in prison while the other one fled." Ozen spoke with a serious tone. He looked at Mason who was inspecting the pictures. "Since your nation is the only one in the continent with solid metal using clans, it's safe to assume that they are from your land."
A woman who was standing behind Mason stepped forward. She wore a royal blue skirt with a white shirt that showed of her cleavage. Her red, curly hair was up to her shoulders. She handed Ozen a tablet before adjusting her glasses. "The male we know off. He is an escapee of ours, whom we lost track off six months ago." She spoke in a dignified manner.
"Then why didn't you alert us of this incident? Surely you knew that he was going to cause trouble in neighbouring countries?" Ozen questioned their decision making. " If so you are dame lucky he didn't end up in Shaka's nation or war would have broken out."
"Sorry for my negligence master, but we wanted to solve this issue internally. We hadn't planned for this to happen." Mason replied while looking and sounding abnormally calm even for him. The conversation lasted for sometime with both parties going back and forth.
As the meeting was about to conclude, the fight between Colani and Cody ended. Colani had won it, leaving Cody with a broken arm and a loss. "You are so dame pathetic. Why didn't you fight me at full power,?" Colani asked as he glared at Cody.
"Well we are sparring after all and I thought 'why should we fight like our lives depend on it?'" Cody explained his reasoning as he felt a jolt of pain in his right side. Ted noticed this and offered to heal the boy. Colani clicked his tongue and stormed away in anger.
As Ted was healing Cody, Precious appeared next to Trinity. This shocked the captain due to how much she had changed. Her warm and gentle aura was now replaced by a cold and serious one. Her hair was also shorter.
"It's been a long time Trinity." Precious spoke as she looked at Ted.
"Y-Yeah. How have you been doing?" Trinity asked as he rubbed the back of his head.
"I've been well and you seem to be doing well yourself, how nice." She responded only taking a short glance at him. "Before you ask another dumb question, I didn't come here to chat. I was sent to inform you that the meeting is over."
"Thanks a lot." Before Trinity could continue, Precious walked away. "Please wait Se-"
"That weakling is dead to me." Precious interrupted. "I go by Precious these days. You would know that, if you had chosen to stay instead of running away."
I don't blame her for being angry at me. When she needed someone the most, I her best friend abandoned her. Trinity watched as she walked away. He also noticed the dark aura around her body. I may have not been there before, but I will save you from that. The captain clenched his fist.
"Done" Ted said as he smiled at his young patient. Trinity came and helped the young lad to his feet. The sun began heading down which created a beautiful sunset which Abby really loved. Ted accompanied everyone as they regroup with Linda and Ozen.
On their way back Cody saw the pictures again. Since Ted was with them, the boy had the guts to ask about the girl in the photo. Ted cleared his throat his throat as he prepared to answer. "That is princess Layla. She is the third child of the late king."
"Where is she now?" Cody enquired more. "She died after a band of thieves attacked her, while returning from boarding school" Ted answered before he cleared his throat. Abby noticing her friends intereste in a female for the first time forced her to look at him in a funny way. Cody looked at his left to avoid eye contact with her. Brandon while annoyed by his teammates looked at the beautiful foyer for the last time. The boy spotted someone emerging from the shadows.
They arrived at the magi vehicle where they found Ozen and talking with Linda.
Trinity waved goodbye at his friend as they left the city. Ted's smile gradually disappeared as the vehicle vanished in the horizon. A dark aura quicky appeared and took the shape of Mason the king.
"Distracting Trinity with that fight was genius. Now they won't have a clue on what is happening here." The king stated. "Your family will be freed from being part of our sacrifice."
I'm sorry I lied Trinity, but I hope the message gets to you in time. This country; has fallen into darkness.
