Later that night Cody sat on his bed whilst looking at the scar on his arm. A lot of things happened today and I could not do anything about it.
Suddenly, his bedroom door opened and there standing in the door frame was Sito. At that same moment the clothes Cody placed on dresser fell to the floor.
"Your room is filthy. Try to clean up once in a while you pig." Sito spoke, as his eyes scanned the room. His left eye twitched with disgust at the sight of unmade shirts lying everywhere and the ticking time bomb of a wardrobe.
When he looked at the trash bin he noticed a chocolate wrapper from last week with more papers on the floor. However, worst of all he caught a glimpse of a cockroach roaming the cluttered floor. This room is ground zero for a new disease.
"I'm here for the red eyed freak's number." Sito proudly demanded.
The dark aura may have caused him to lash out, but the distance between us was there before hand. Cody observed.
Without wasting time, Cody transfered the data using his holo caster which was a device made at Inyoni Tech. It used alchemic energy in the atmosphere to communicate with other holo caster devices. It was small and resembled a wrist watch.
During this moment, their mother happened to pass by and even she could feel the tension in the air. Being an only child, she never experienced sibling conflict. This kind of situation was all new to her.
"You better apologize. What you did today was terrible." Cody commented. I can't tell him about the thing I saw. Besides, even if I tried he wouldn't believe me.
After hearing this Sito halted his exit. "Like you have the right to talk or did you forget that it was you who killed our father?" With those words Sito left. Using his attribute he created a whip to close the door. Thanks to that the rest of Cody's clothes fell to the floor.
It's not that I killed our father, I just failed to protect him. Cody thought before lying flat on his bed with his face looking at the ceiling.
Even after my father's death I tried to remain cheerful. With people ridiculing me it was hard, but I held on to his final words. I guess over the years they have won. My wish to protect everyone and my dream have slowly moved out of reach. If it wasn't for Zack and Abby, I would have killed myself by now.
Right now I'm not cut out for the exam and even if I train, the squad captains won't even pick me. Cody thought, as he slowly fell asleep. His mind went dark before he found himself in a ruined city, covered in flames. Corpses surrounded him and blood flowed everywhere.
Suddenly, someone wearing a lab coat stood in mid-air carrying an unconscious Abby on his right arm. "Let her go!" Cody shouted.
"Why should I? Are you going to wave your stick at me?" The person laughed, before appearing behind Cody. "If you were stronger, maybe I could've listened to you and maybe all this could've been avoided." The person rotated the city showing the boy the death and destruction.
As Cody turned around the person was now back on the roof. Without a word the person pointed at Cody, immediately after a strange reptilian, humanoid creature appeared. It had flaming hair and golden eyes. The smoke prevented Cody from seeing it clearly. Without wasting much time it attacked Cody.
"Ahhh!" Cody screamed, as he quickly sat up. His body was sweating to the point that his clothes were soaking wet. He calmed himself down while his vision cleared. "Dammit! Whether it's in real life or my head, I'm still useless." He spoke as he looked at his clock.
As he calmed down Cody felt something strange on his shirt. Upon inspection he noticed blood. "How did I get..."
"Ifrit burn everything to the ground." Cody remembered, part of his dream. While he was lost in thought, he heard a sound coming from the living room.
"What is that." He mumbled, softly as he slowly got out of bed. His heart rate increased as he remembered the scientist in his dream.
He slowly creeped down the stairs, following the sound of to it's torch. Before he could reach the bottom, the young boy noticed a light illuminating the place. Quickly Cody created his dark staff anticipating a fight.
Once he had reached the bottom, he learned that the sound was from the Television. Upon closer inspection he noticed a silhouette sitting on the couch. The person seemed to be wearing a lab coat.
"Mom?" Is all Cody managed to say, as he approached the couch. Upon reaching the couch, Cody learned that it was his mother who was in deep sleep. On the coffee table was two piles of papers.
"Those scumbags. They always pile large number of work for her to do at home. And they don't even pay her for it." Cody whispered. "I bet if dad was here everything..." Cody stopped as Sito's words from earlier echoed.
And it's because of me that he is gone. Cody thought as he balled his hand into a fist.
"Why the long face?" His mother asked, as she awoke. She quickly wiped off the drool as she waited for a response.
"I was just thinking." Cody replied, as he turned away from her. "Mom, do you hate me?"
"Why would I Nora Dlamini hate you?" She asked, out of curiosity though she already knew the reason.
"Well I did kill your husband and made your life a living hell." Cody responded, to his mother's question.
"Is that really how you think of me? How disappointing, although I'm kinda glad." Nora laughed a little. "The only person who should think that is me." At the sound of those words Cody looked back at her in shock.
Why would she say such a thing?
Nora quickly stood up and walked over to her son. "It's because of me that you were born an abnormal. It's because of me that you are going through tough situations and it's because of me that you are hurting Soo bad." She stated with a sad look on her face.
"Mom..."
"If you think about it we are both at fault. So let's give it our all okay." She added, whilst she embraced her. "Because it is not how you start a journey, but how you finish it that matters."
With those words Cody felt a bit lighter. His brother's earlier statement was nothing but a distant memory. I should have talked to her a long long time ago.
The next day Cody was training outside with his 'night staff'. He swung it around really quick creating small waves of air in the process. "So the lazy boy finally starts working." Said a man who approached him.
"Mr Cosmo." Cody responded, before he accidentally hit himself with his staff. "Ouch." This made the young man laugh.
He sure looks better today. I wonder what happened? Cosmo thought as he observed Cody manifest another staff made of darkness.
"Concentrate on your training and stop calling me mister. I'm only twenty five." Cosmo stated, while wiping a tear from his face. "Out of everyone, even our captains. You are the only person I know who can use the expansion technique."
"What! Really?" Cody responded as he began training again. "I'll give it a try then."
I don't know how I didn't see it before, but I have a lot of people supporting me. Cody learnt about himself.
"Why do you want to become a knight?" Cosmo asked curiously, as he observed Cody channel some energy into his staff. The boy slowly increased it's size making it longer.
"So that I can be the Magi. I want to protect everyone and create an era of peace." Cody stated. "If people didn't fear death, maybe all this conflicts would end."
Right now he sounds like captain Oscar . Cosmo thought about Cody's father. As the young boy continued training, Cosmo's holo caster started beeping.
He quickly pressed a button where a hologram of a person appeared. "What's up Miles?" He asked.
"Where the hell are you?!" The person quickly responded. "Return to the base at once! The Magi has passed away!"
