Empire & Vice Episode 7: Blood in the Water 6:00 AM — Ethan’s Penthouse, Manhattan Ethan sat in the dim glow of his study, eyes fixed on his laptop screen. The article exposing Marcus had gone live overnight, and the business world was already in chaos. His phone vibrated. Daniel. “You’ve seen the headlines?” Daniel’s voice was sharp. “I have.” “Marcus is in damage control. He’s trying to shift the narrative, saying your claims are baseless retaliation.” Ethan smirked. “Let him try. The evidence speaks for itself.” Daniel hesitated. “Still, be careful. He won’t go down quietly.” Ethan exhaled, staring at the city beyond the glass. “Neither will I.” 9:30 AM — ColeTech Headquarters Walking through the lobby, Ethan felt the shift in the air. Employees whispered, glancing his way. Some with curiosity, others with doubt. The scandal had put a target on his back. His assistant, Ava, rushed toward him. “The board wants an emergency meeting at noon.” Ethan nodded. “Let them wait.” In his office, Lena was already there, pacing. “We need to talk,” she said, closing the door behind her. Ethan poured himself coffee. “I assume it’s about the fallout?” She crossed her arms. “The article hit hard, but Marcus is still standing. He’s using his connections to spin the story.” Ethan smirked. “Then we hit harder.” Lena shook her head. “There’s more. Someone tried to bribe one of my sources. And I got an anonymous tip that Marcus is digging into your past.” Ethan stiffened. “Looking for what?” Lena’s voice lowered. “Anything he can use. Personal, financial… anything.” Ethan clenched his jaw. “Let him dig. He won’t find anything useful.” Lena studied him. “You sure about that?” He didn’t answer. 12:00 PM — ColeTech Boardroom The tension was thick. Marcus sat at the far end of the table, his expression unreadable. One of the senior board members, Eleanor Vance, cleared her throat. “Given the severity of recent events, we need to discuss the leadership of this company.” Marcus leaned forward. “The allegations against me are exaggerated at best. However, the chaos Ethan has caused with this reckless attack is undeniable.” Ethan smirked. “Chaos? Or the truth?” Eleanor sighed. “Regardless, investors are worried. We need stability.” Marcus pressed his advantage. “Which is why I propose a temporary shift in leadership until this crisis is resolved.” A few murmurs of agreement echoed around the room. Ethan met Eleanor’s gaze. “And if Marcus is lying? If his actions put this company at risk?” Eleanor exhaled. “Then we need more proof.” Ethan nodded. “Then I’ll get it.” The meeting ended with no resolution, but Ethan knew one thing—his time was running out. 3:00 PM — A Private Meeting with Victor DeLuca Victor sipped his espresso, watching Ethan carefully. “You’re back sooner than I expected.” Ethan placed a thick envelope on the table. “I need everything you have on Marcus. Now.” Victor raised an eyebrow. “Impatient, aren’t we?” Ethan’s stare was cold. “I don’t have time for games.” Victor smirked, flipping through the contents. “I found something interesting.” He slid a flash drive across the table. “Marcus isn’t just connected to private equity firms. He has direct ties to offshore shell companies involved in illegal financing.” Ethan’s grip tightened on the drive. “This is enough to end him.” Victor leaned back. “Just be careful how you use it.” Ethan stood. “I always am.” But as he walked away, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this war was only getting bloodier. 7:30 PM — Ethan’s Penthouse Ethan sat at his desk, the flash drive plugged into his laptop. The files were damning. Wire transfers, fake accounts, money laundering trails—all linked to Marcus. His phone buzzed. Unknown Number. He hesitated before answering. “Who is this?” A distorted voice came through. “You should stop digging, Mr. Cole.” Ethan’s spine stiffened. “Or what?” A pause. Then—“Or you won’t like what happens next.” The line went dead. Ethan slowly set the phone down. He wasn’t just fighting Marcus anymore. Someone else was in the game. And they were watching. --- To Be Continued…
