I am taking the engineering course not because I like this course but because I does want to be far away from my family. I am originally a physical science student.
When I first got to the Bi University, I really hated it. It is because my best friend Jenny were not here with me. She been accepted by Ai University 90 km from my university. I hated the fact that I need to start friendly with new people. I need to introduce myself. It exhausted me.
On 16th September 2014
The night before I went to register, I was busy packing my things. This is not my first time to do the list and pack as I went to the boarding school since I was 13 years old. 5 years study there is such a blessing for me. This is where I know my best friend Jenny. Here is a short listed of my things that I must prepared.
List of things to be brought
1. Toiletries
2. Sheets and pillowcases
3. Pillows (2)
4. Blankets
5. Comforter/bedspread
6. Clothes hangers
7. Laundry bag/basket
8. Laundry detergent and fabric softener
9. Towel
10. T-shirt
11. Trousers
12. Baju Kurung
13. Notebooks
14. Pens and pencils
15. Sticky notes
16. Stationary
17. Laptop
18. Earphone
19. Extension cords
20. Umbrella
21. Coffee mug
22. Silverware
“What time do we plan to leave tomorrow?” I ask my parent while I was putting my laptop inside my backpack.
“After dawn, around 6 o’clock.” My mom replied
“Seriously? Is it not to early?” I asked her with a confused face.
“We need to avoid the terrific jammed tomorrow. You need to sleep early tonight.”
“Are you still packing?” my dad enters the conversation.
My mom looks at me with face that asked for answer for my dad question.
I smile at my mom and dad and said, “It’s all set.”
I am super-duper nervous that night. I cannot sleep soundly. I only sleep about 2 hours. I check my list and the things that I packed. I am worried that I might forget something important. My mom and dad will kill me. Especially my mom.
5:00 AM
I already wake up. Take a quick shower and start to put things inside the car. My mom was making fried rice for breakfast and packed meal for the journey.
Only my parent went to send me for the university registration. I have 3 siblings. One sister and one younger brother. I am the middle child in my family. My sibling cannot send me because they stay at their hostel.
My sister went to Ci University while my younger brother is at the same boarding school I went to. That morning in the car, my mom and dad is the most excited person except me.
They were singing in the car happily while I try to sleep at the back seat as I felt sleepy. Within a few minutes, I was deeply asleep.
“Anna wake up. We have arrived.” My mom wakes me up.
I was barely open my eyes. I feel so tired and moody suddenly. I wipe my eyes and open the door. Then, proceed to the registration booth. They give me my room key and explain that I need to go to the main hall at 8 p.m. for some induction.
My room is at the 4 floor. The highest floor. In that room, it has two section. One section has two double decker bed. So total person fit in one room is 8 people. Luckily, I am the first person that come into the room.
I have the privileged to choose the bed that I prefer the most. So, I choose the one that near to door and the below one.
This is a good sign in my opinion. After finish sorting my things, I went down to say goodbye to my parents.
“Take good care here. Study hard. I love you.” My mom said then kiss my cheeks.
“Take care, you can call us every time you feel you want to talk.” Proceed to hug my dad.
“Take care too, I love you to!” I said while hugging them together.
Then, they went into the car and going back home. While waving towards them, I though to myself what kind of roommates that I get.
