Hailey’s POV I clung desperately to the thick, wet roots dangling into the pit, my fingers trembling from exhaustion. My arms screamed in pain as I tried to keep my head above the rising water. Cold droplets stung my face, mingling with the tears I couldn’t hold back. A sharp ache throbbed in my head, the rain pounding harder with each passing second.
