Before long, I heard laughing coming from the kitchen, and then Jeffers walked over and said, “I’m okay in here if you have other things to do,” and he went back into the kitchen and laughed some more. “Okay then,” I said, feeling a little bit ignored. I hadn’t expected Jeffers to so quickly make himself at home. “I’ll just run down to the saloon for a few minutes. I’ll be back.” “Take your time,” Sally said.
