“We’re not lost.” Lynn c****d her head to one side and looked at Alexis. “If we’re lost then why did that sign we just passed say Wise, Virginia?”
“Honey,” Alexis flipped on the overhead light and pointed towards the map. Since the area appeared extremely rural, and the breeder had warned them cell phone service was touch and go, they had purchased a Rand McNally map at a rundown gas station. “According to this,” she traced her fingertip along the winding road. “We should have gone through Duffield, Virginia. We shouldn’t be anywhere near Wise.”
