Chapter 1: Error

The air surged in through the window, forcing me to put down my pen. I gazed out the window involuntarily, taking in the fresh air and soft light from the outside. If only I had more time to savor this day. I sighed and shook my head, accepting the truth. I still have to complete the 1000-word essay examination before starting to studying for the next subject. When I looked at my classmates, I noticed a darkish yellow tint that I could only see from within the room. They're all jittery, just as I am. However, he drew my attention once more. Karim Lim is the only colorless person I know. He is the rank one in our batch, despite being a well-known bully at school. Aside from that, he is the heir to the MC Group. That is why, for the past three years, the school and students have been powerless to stop him from breaking the regulations. What a scumbag! I immediately averted my gaze before he caught me staring at him. Because seriously, I don't want to be involved with him in any situation. I just decided to focus on the test and finished it before the bell rang. "Hey," I glanced at Milo, a close friend of mine when he tapped my shoulder. "how's the test?" he asked. "Fortunately, I finished the essay before the bell rang. But I'll probably flunk it anyway so, whatever." I answered while cleaning the mess on my desk. Many of our classmates started to head out to buy snacks and review for the next subject. Milo called for his girlfriend and some of our friends before inviting us to buy a snack. I was about to stand up when Sara suddenly appeared in front of me and grabbed my hand. "Daniel, can I borrow your chemistry notes? I left my notebook at home and haven't reviewed any of the lessons. Please? Pretty please?" Sara said with desperation in her face. I sighed and withdraw my hand back. "Okay, okay. You don't have to ask me so eagerly." I immediately took my chemistry notes out of my bag and handed them to her. "But you have to give it back before the break time is over because I also haven't reviewed some of the lessons." she nodded and took my notebook before going out with her friends. I looked at my friends and said, "Let's go." "Dude, you let her borrow your notes right before the exam? She's probably up to something again like what she did last year." Justin said while shaking his head with disbelief. "Why don't we make a bet?" Milo suggested while playing with Jamie's hair. Seriously, can't they stop the public display of affection even for a minute. They would probably break up in a month when one of them is only playing. "That's a great idea, Babe! I'll bet that she won't give it back because, hmm, she'll probably disappear before the break time is over. You know, like a bubble. Poof!" Jamie said friskily while making unnecessary gestures. "She'll probably make an excuse, for example, someone borrowed it to her or something. She did that to me last time, you know?" Justin said with annoyance visible on his face. "I bet you all that she's going to rip it to shreds because she's a psycho," Milo said with a playful grin on his face. That's kind of over the belt even so I don't care. After that, the three of them looked at me with anticipation. "What?" "What do you mean what? What's your bet?" Jamie asked with crossed arm and right brow raised. "She's going to give it back before the break time is over," I said in a low voice and shifted my attention to the menu on the screen above the cashier. "You're boring!" Jamie said in a monotone and boring look while Milo is hugging her from the back. I want to puke. "Seriously! Can the two of you separate from each other for a moment? It's great you guys are so into each other but think of other people too!" Justin suddenly burst and forcefully separate the two in front of me. "You're just jealous because you used to have a crush on Jamie. But, poor you. She chooses me." Milo shouted to Justin which pissed him more. "f**k you! That's like, two years ago, and it's not that serious, you know?" They began to argue over nonsense things again. I sighed and decided to order instead of wasting my time and energy. Thankfully, we finished eating a snack before the bell rang. On our way to the classroom, I saw Sara with her friends. She's lipping the pages seriously and then, she will massage her temple minute after minute. It's as if she's having a hard time understanding what's in the notebook. She probably felt my stares that's why she suddenly looked in my direction. I smiled at her and decided to get my notes already. While she's walking towards me, a well-built man suddenly appeared in her right which bumped into her. The coffee was spilled on the floor with my notebook which is now wet. My mouth gaped open with the sight in front of me. I was about to confront the man when I realized that it's the person I worked hard to avoid the most. Karim was dangerously looking at Sara. No one moved or speak. We just stared at them and waited on what's going to happened next, which made me anxious. I'm partly involved with them because my notebook is now ruined. I probably won't be able to use it because the ink will be a mess. I sighed as I looked down at the ground. I should just throw away my notebook. I can always make a new note if necessary. Besides, I still remember most of our lessons so I probably won't fail in chemistry. I just hope so. I was about to leave when the color of Sara's aura caught my attention. It's... dull yellow. She's feeling sick? What does it mean? When I observed her seriously, I saw how she had a hard time breathing and how her pinkish lips slowly turned blue. She has asthma! Without any hesitation, I blocked her sight and looked at Karim straight into his eyes. "Stop."
