Chapter 12-1

712 Words

Back in college, Wren had finally broken free from her mother's control. She kept her social circle carefully hidden after that, and over the years she'd made a few genuinely close friends. But among all of them, Tara was the closest. Mostly because the two of them were the only ones who had stayed in Seaport. Helen had met Tara once last year. At the time, Tara's daughter, Gracie Dunn, had been suffering from constant headaches. After countless tests, no doctor could figure out what was wrong, and specialist pediatric appointments were nearly impossible to secure. In the end, Wren brought Tara directly to Songview Medical Center to ask her mother for help. After listening to Wren explain the situation, Helen had gone silent for several seconds before finally speaking in a cold voice.
