As the first light of dawn pierced through the curtains, I grumbled on the bed, squinting my eyes. I really didn’t wanna get up but I had an investigation to carry on.
I hummed my favorite Billie eilish song as I took a long warm shower.
I opened my wardrobe and picked out a black tight jean with golden buttons that brought out my figure and a red top that fit perfectly on my body. I styled my hair into a bun and used a feminine perfume.
“Are you up already?” Alexander drowsily asked from outside my door, I guess he just woke up.
“Why is he acting like everything is okay, he shut me out yesterday and went to his study, only God knows what he’s always doing in there” I thought to myself.
“Yes I’m up, do you remember me now? I thought you'd never come out of your study” I sarcastically said as I threw glances at him.
“I’m going downstairs for breakfast, if you care to join” he replied ignoring my sarcasm and headed to the dining room.
“What a jeck?” I scoffed as I hurriedly wore my earrings and necklace.
I could feel the worms in my stomach curling up. I didn’t get a chance to eat anything last night. I hurriedly picked up my phone and headed for the dining area.
“Did you get any sleep?Why are your eyes swollen?” I swear I could hear a pinch of concern in Alexander’s voice when he spoke to me.
“Sit beside me” he insisted.
“Why is he acting so nice this morning? Well it will pass, I need to start my investigation from that study he’s always hiding in” I thought to myself as the cook started serving our food.
The aroma of the food was consuming the air in the room in a very good way, immediately I tasted the pasta that was served, my taste bud rolled up in excitement.
If I’m going to be snooping around all day, at least my stomach should be filled.
“Calm down you’ll choke” he playfully informed me as I was ravaging the food without taking a pause, and I felt so embarrassed.
“Your father texted me last nig…” I choked on my food before he completed his sentence.
“My father?” I nervously asked as my eyes widened in shock
“Wh..what did he say?” I stuttered as I impatiently waited for his answer.
“Why are you so startled? He just wanted to check up on me”? he calmly said.
I let out a breath of relief as I picked up the glass of water on the dining table and gulped it.
“Why is my father so bent on torturing my life? Why on earth is he texting him”? I thought to myself as I ate the food in silence.
“I’ll be going out for a meeting, if you need to go out, inform the driver” he slowly tilted his head towards the driver as he informed me which of the drivers to speak to.
A smirk appeared on my face as I thought to myself “I wouldn’t be going out, I’ll be snooping around all day”.
He was still eating when suddenly his phone rang and he hurriedly left the dining room while picking up the call.
“I’m on my way, you don’t need to raise your voice” his voice trailed off as he proceeded to go get dressed in his bedroom.
“Rude” I scoffed as i rolled my eyes backwards
Why would he leave the dining room without saying bye?.
It was time to begin my investigation when I noticed a beautiful lady who appeared to be a maid standing at the left corner of the dining room.
“Excuse me?” I said loudly looking at her.
“What’s your name?” I asked as I stared at her admiring how beautiful she looks.
“My name is Pearl” she answered with her face to the ground as a sign of respect.
I thought to myself “she looks like I can trust her”.
If I need to know more about this family, then I should start with the staffs that work here.
“Come sit” I requested but she felt nervous
“Mr Alexander wouldn’t like it ma” she nervously replied.
“I’m his wife and it’s my request, come sit” I insisted.
“So…Tell me more about yourself ? I began as I noticed other maids were staring at her like she was committing a horrible crime.
“You can raise your head and talk to me” she slowly raised her head to give me a reply but immediately stood up in fear and almost fell on the ground as she rushed back to her position.
“Wha…t” I was startled by her reaction until I noticed Alexander walk into the dining room and I suddenly paused in the air.
He came out wearing a black suit, and a navy blue tie, his shoes were neatly polished and his hair was freshly styled.
“Damn… how can one man be this seductive?” I thought inwardly as I swallowed hard.
“What was going on here”? His question snapped me back to reality.
“Why was the maid sitting with you?” he questioned with a serious look on his face.
“I asked her’ is there a problem?” I nervously asked, squinting my brows in confusion.
“You don’t invite a maid to my table ever again” he sternly warned and I nodded almost immediately out of fear.
I watched him confidently walk out of the room, even though I was still in shock from how he reacted towards the maid, I can’t lie to myself. Alexander is hot.
I watched the car zoom off and my eyes quickly wandered around the room looking for Pearl.
“Where’s she?” I questioned one other maid standing at the left-corner of the room.
“She went into kitchen ma” I sighed as I stood up from the dining table to check up on her.
“Hey Pearl, I didn’t know you'll get startled like that, I have something important I need to discuss with you later, come to my room in 1 hour time” I calmly said to her as I headed to the study to start my investigation.
Surprisingly, the study wasn’t locked, so I quietly opened the door to avoid any of the staff getting alerted.
The room was dark so I nervously removed my phone from my pocket.
“Oh..my..god “I gasped
