The Flame Unveiled

The great hall of the Draxon estate was lit with cold silver fire, casting shadows long across the marble floor. Dominic sat at the head of the table like a king carved from stone, his court arrayed in silence around him. The raven-haired woman lounged nearby, smug and waiting. And then the doors opened. Every head turned. Brittany stepped inside with deliberate calm, the click of her heels echoing like a drumbeat of war. A long black coat hugged her frame, the edges sweeping the floor as she walked. But it was the glint in her green eyes — sharp and dangerous — that drew all attention. Dominic’s lips curved. “You return, little flame. Five seconds. That’s all it would take.” The woman’s throat tightened, and silence fell. Brittany turned her attention back to Dominic. “You can threaten me. You can try to play me. But understand this — I don’t fear you. I love Matt. My heart beats stronger for him every day. And I don’t care if you approve, if she approves, if the whole damned council approves. I’ll tear down this empire before I give him up.” In the shadows, Matt’s pulse thundered. Seeing her standing there — fierce, fearless, wrapped in danger and desire
