606 Words
Writer's POV As the first light of dawn breaks over the horizon, the army camp buzzes with activity. The recruits, still groggy from their slumber, assemble quickly in the training yard, their movements precise and synchronized. **Roll Call**: The commanding officer steps forward, clipboard in hand, and begins the roll call. Each recruit responds with a loud and clear "Present, Lieutenant!" as their name is called. Immediately after roll call, the recruits are led by their drill sergeant to the PT field. The first task of the day was a rigorous physical training session designed to build strength and endurance. Throughout the PT session, the recruits encourage and motivate each other, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork. The drill sergeant's voice booms through the air, pushing the recruits to give their best effort. The session ends with a cool-down period, where the recruits perform static stretching and deep breathing exercises to relax their muscles and prepare for the day ahead. After the training they headed for breakfast The messy hall buzzed with the morning rush as soldiers hurried to grab their meals and find seats. Lesley, with a tray balanced carefully in her hands, scanned the crowded room for an empty spot. Her stomach rumbled, a reminder that the morning’s physical training had left her ravenous. Just then, she spotted a lone empty seat at a table near the corner. Without a second thought, she made her way over and placed her tray down. As she settled in, she noticed a figure approaching the same table, tray in hand. Lou, his face still flushed from the exertion of the morning drills, had also been eyeing the empty seat. He reached the table just as Lesley took her first bite of scrambled eggs. “Soldier!” Lou said, his tone authoritative and formal. “You’re in my seat.” Lesley’s eyes widened, recognizing his status immediately. “Sergeant Lou, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize.” She quickly stood up, flustered. Lou didn’t wait for her to move. He placed his tray down beside hers and took a seat, leaving Lesley standing awkwardly. “Sit,” he commanded, gesturing to the seat opposite him. Lesley obeyed, her mind racing. She had heard of Sergeant Lou’s reputation—strict, no-nonsense, and one of the best in the camp. “Let’s get one thing straight, soldier,” Lou said, not looking up from his meal. “In this camp, you follow orders, and you respect the chain of command. Is that understood?” “Yes, Sergeant,” Lesley replied, her voice steady despite the knot in her stomach. Lou finally looked up, his gaze piercing. “Good. Now eat. You’ll need your strength for today’s drills.” Lesley nodded and focused on her food, aware of the eyes on her and the unspoken tension hanging in the air. She knew she had to prove herself, not just to Lou but to the entire camp. As they ate in silence, the initial harshness began to fade, replaced by a mutual understanding. Lou was hard on her because he wanted the best for her. Lesley was determined to rise to the challenge, even if it meant facing the stern mentor head on . Lou stood up from his seat and walked away head held high ,just then Lesley could feel the familiar aura and she hoped that she didn't have to cross him again. "Hey man ,heard you were given a female recruit is she hot ?"_Lukas his best friend in the camp asked smirking "if she is you're really lucky " he continued ignoring the serious expression Lou had .
