D. Haeffy of Kansas City, claims that he shot and killed Jesse James three days ago near Aberdeen, Missouri. Russell says that as he rode along with James and his gang, one day he fell in behind Jesse, pulled his revolver and fired. The bullet struck home, blood gushed from the wound, and James fell from his horse, a dead man. After the shooting, a running fight ensued between Russell and Jesse’s men, and Russell was shot in the leg.
