KATHERINE I sat at my desk long after the judgment hall cleared out, staring at the blank computer screen till my eyes started stinging bad. The words I voiced inside kept ringing in my mind. Everyone shifted their gaze toward me as if I’d sprouted a head or something unusual. Stephen and his senior members believed they had the insurgents completely understood. They remained stuck pursuing illusions convinced the detained smugglers were the players but the true scheme—the actual method of getting supplies to the rebels—remained deeply concealed.
