Katherine’s POV When I opened my eyes, the light felt too bright. My head ached and the ringing in my ears made it worse. I tried to sit up, but a hand pushed me gently back down. The doctor leaned over me with a calm expression. “You’re awake,” he said. “Don’t move too fast.” My voice came out weak. “What happened to me?” He checked a small glass device beside the bed. “You fainted in the lower cells. Your inner ear was affected. You might experience ear pain, ringing, and disturbed sleep for a while.” I frowned. “That doesn’t make sense. I heal fast. I should be fine by now.” He hesitated, avoiding my eyes. “The noise that caused it was too powerful.
