It turns out an elderly person in this family has passed away, and their children are selling off their belongings and property.
'Selling off' is not the same as an auction.
Because of different understandings, I don't quite understand.
Normally, one would think no one would buy belongings, but actually, there were seven or eight cars parked in front of this house, and more than ten buyers; it was quite lively.
