Chapter 7: A Rude Awakening

I must have eventually dozed off again. I woke up early that morning to what sounded like voices coming from the living room. I thought I heard a woman talking to Luke. I sat listening, trying to hear what they were saying, but their voices were too low. Then there were footsteps, a door closed, and everything was quiet. I thought about how angry Luke had been when I'd accused him of lying the night before, which meant the drive to the airport today would be painfully long and awkward. I should definitely try to make amends with him in order to make the morning less miserable. After all, he seemed like a pretty nice guy (when he kept his opinions to himself).
