Is That...A Heart?

Here is what happened last time on The Werewolf's Superiority I walk back to the cave and start filming and measuring five feet to check where the spears could come from the walls. I walk to the tomb and inspecting everything. I touch it, and no spears come out to kill me. Roman gives me a great idea. If I try to open the tomb, the spears will come out to kill me. I agree with him and start to try and open it. I successfully remove one of the bars. Roman says over the radio; "Just because you do not see the puzzle, it doesn't mean that there isn't one." "I know, Roman. And thank you for the advice. Are you getting the video?" "Yes, Dr. Andrews. But the radio sound is much clearer than the video's." "Okay, good. The rod is almost out of the hole, so here we go." I put the video recorder on the steps, and I grab hold of the rob and give it one firm tug, and the rod comes out of the tomb. I fall on the ground out of the sight of the video recorder. Roman frantically asks over the radio; "Dr. Andrews? Are you okay? Dr. Andrews, come in?" I get up, show them the rod and say; "One out. Only three more to go." Roman says; "You got us worried. Just be careful, Dr. Andrews." As I walk over to the other bar, Roman says over the radio; "You are out of the picture, Dr. Andrews. Turn the camera a bit more to the side that you are busy, please." I move the camera a bit and ask; "How is this, Roman?" "Perfect. We can see you now, Dr. Andrews." I move over to the tomb again and start trying to pull out the rod. I continue to try, but it is not budging out of the hole. I ask Roman; "Can you send someone in with pliers and maybe a hammer, please? I need a better grip, and I can not stand while trying to remove it." "Rodger. Sending the items in, Dr. Andrews." Ethan comes into the cave, crawling on his hands and knees. I only see his hands appearing from the top as he hands me the pliers. I look up and start laughing at his silliness while asking; "Why are you crawling?" "Because of the five feet thing?" "Come on. You moved through this entire cave system the whole day with no spears killing you, and now you are suddenly worried?" "Well, yes. Because now I know that there are death spears somewhere that kill people." I hold out the tools and say; "Okay. Thank you for this. You can go outside again, thank you." I watch as he turns around and starts to crawl back out again. I shake my head and start making my way back to the tomb. I get a grip on the rod and twist and turn the rod to get it loose. I feel it starting to move again, and I radio to Roman; "I got it moving again. Here we go." I start pulling the rod out, and it comes out of the hole. I show the rod again to the camera while saying; "See, I got another one out. Now only two more to go." I make my way to the third rod. I put the pliers on, and this rod slides out with no resistance at all. Shocked at this development, I look at the camera and say; "Now that was scary how easy it was to remove this one." Roman says to me; "I know. Now there is only one left, be careful with that one." I get a grip on the rod with the pliers, and I start to pull. As the rod starts moving, I hear a slight click sound in the cave. I quickly stop and ask Roman; "Do you hear something?" "Ummm, what do you mean, Dr. Andrews?" "Something made a click sound the moment I started to pull the rod out." "No, sorry. No one heard a thing out here. Maybe it's too soft for us to have heard it." "Okay. I am just going to continue to pull it out and see what happens." I start pulling on the rod again, and I keep on hearing the click sound. I tell Roman; "I'm telling you, I hear that click sound again." "Same with us out here. No sounds are coming from the cave." "You know what the click sound reminds me of, Roman? Like, while I am pulling on this rod, something else is being recoiled into action that I am not seeing. Almost like Newton's third law, to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." "What do you mean, Dr. Andrews?" The reason why I am saying this, is because I can not push the rod back into the hole again. Something is preventing it from moving back into the tomb." "Dr. Andrews, then I would suggest being careful moving forward." I start pulling it softly until it is almost out of the hole. I grab the radio and say; "Well, here goes nothing. I am going to pull it out." I give it one firm pull, and the rod slides out. As I fall out of the picture of the camera, Roman asks; "And? What happened? Dr. Andrews? Are you okay?" I come into focus of the camera and say; "Nope, nothing happened. How does the tomb look?" Roman says; "As far as I can see, it's fine. Nothing has moved." I look on around on the walls to see if I can not see anything standing out. I crawl around on the other side. I notice on the wall, four holes have appeared. I crawl back to the camera, pick it up and say; "I think that I have found the source of the spears." Roman says; "Really? Show us, Dr. Andrews." "Hold a few. I am going to crawl back over there and show you." I point the camera and show the four holes in the wall and say; "Does anyone remember seeing holes in the upper part of the wall before?" Roman says; "Nope. Both Ethan and James did not see holes in the walls either." "Okay. So that must be the source of the spears. But how do I trigger them to render this site safe? That is now the latest question." "Dr. Andrews, why don't you try and touch the tomb and see what happens now?" I stretch out my hand, close my eyes in anticipation and slowly make my way to touch it. My hand makes contact with the tomb, and nothing happens. I say; "Nothing happened." Roman says; "We saw. Maybe you try to open the lid with one of the rods that you removed from the tomb? Maybe that will release the trigger?" I say; "It is worth a shot. I am going to try it. Hold a few." I pick up the rod and press it against the lid. I say to Roman; "Here we go." I push as hard as I can, but the lid does not move. I say; "It is too heavy. I will never move the lid alone." Roman says; "Do you need some help lifting it?" "Yes, but no one can come in to help. I will have to find a way to move it by myself from in here." Roman says; "I can jump in and help you, Dr. Andrews." "And what if you jump in and these spears kill you?" "We have to try something, Dr. Andrews. Are you going to sleep there tonight?" "Ummm, if I have to, yes. I have slept in worse places." "Come on, let me help you. I will try to push it from the top where there are no spears. Just to see that can happen. What do you say?" I sit while staring at the tomb and the walls while thinking about what he just proposed. I radio Roman back; "Fine. But you stay on top where the spears can not get to you, okay?" "Okay. Sit tight, Dr. Andrews. I am on my way." He runs to get a metal pipe and walks back into the cave. He looks into the tomb while asking me; "So, what do I do from up here?" "Push at the very end in the back of the tomb. I will also push from down here." Roman puts the metal bar against the corner of the lid, and I put the rod under the edge, and I start to count; "Three, two, one. Push." I feel the lid moving slightly. I tell Roman; "Nice, let's do one more. This time, try to push a little harder, okay?" "Fine." I count again; "Three, two, one. Puuuush." The lid suddenly moves, and Roman slips and falls in with his legs. I hear a loud sound followed by a scream so intense that it rattled the entire cave. I turn to look up to see what is going on. Blood is gushing out of Roman's leg. I quickly get up and run to him without thinking about the spears. His face starts turning red as he tries to stop himself from screaming in pain. I make a call on the radio; "MEDIC! WE NEED A MEDIC IN HERE ASAP!" I take my belt off and place it around his upper thigh to try and stop the bleeding. I tell Roman; "This is going to hurt, but I have to try and cut off the blood supply until we can get you to a doctor." "f**k. Atleast we have found out how the spears work." I laugh and say; "Don't worry about that. You focus on your leg." The two medics run into the cave and start working on him. One of them quickly takes out an injection and gives him a shot to help with the pain. They put him on a stretcher to carry him out of the cave. I also walk out to clean his blood off my hands. Dr. Chloe Addison comes to me and asks; "Are you okay?" I smile and say to her; "It's luckily not my blood. It is Roman's." "No! What happened?" "Remember the spears?" "Yes." "That is what happened. Roman slipped and fell, and the spears punctured his lower leg. It looks bad." Dr. Chloe Addison is in total shock as she puts her hand over her mouth. I ask her; "Where have you been? Did you not see what happened over the camera?" "I was trying to call my colleague and had to walk away to get a better signal. I mailed him a few photos, and I would like a second opinion." I answer her surprised; "Oh, okay." She asks me concerned; "Are you going back in there?" "Yes. I have to. I need to see if the spears have reset so that we can continue with our work. I think the tomb is also open now, and I would really like to see what is in there." She shakes her head while smiling and says; "I would also like to see what is in there and get a sample of the DNA. If possible at all." I nod at her and say; "I know. We need to find out if it is safe to go back into the tomb or not. But after what we have found out just now, trust me, I will be the first one going back into that tomb." A quirky smile appears on her face as she says; "No way. You will be the second in that tomb. I will be the first in there!" We both laugh for a few seconds. I smile and tell Dr. Addison; "I will have to get in there and make sure everything is okay before anyone else can go in." She nods at me and says; "I understand. Anyway, I have my own work to get to out here. But be careful in there." "Thank you, Dr. Addison. I will try." I turn and start walking away to clean my hands. Ethan grabs a bottle of water and helps me to wash my hands. Ethan asks me; "Do you think Roman will be okay?" "Medics sounds optimistic." "Thank you for your help, Ethan." "Are you heading back into the cave, Dr. Andrews?" "Yes. I have to." "Please be careful." "I will, and thank you again for your help." "No problem." I turn and walk back into the cave. I look at the spikes that are back in the wall. I stand there wondering if I could walk down the steps and if it is safe. I start recording to try and see what is in the tomb, but it is too dark inside to see inside. I take out my flashlight and try to light it inside. Something catches my eye that's moving between the bones inside of the tomb. I try to zoom in with the video camera, and it looks like nearly all the bones inside are broken. I think to myself, what the hell could be moving inside of something that was sealed shut? As I zoom in, I see it looks like a heart that is moving inside. I say out loud; "What the f**k?" As I try to make sense of what is happening inside, I lean too far over, and I slip on Roman's blood and fall into the tomb with the bones. I choke on the dust while I try to search inside the tomb for my flashlight. The fall must have switched off the light. As I finally find the flashlight while searching, I grab the camera and climb out of the tomb. One of the bones stuck me in the neck and is sticking out. I quickly rip it from my neck, and blood starts running down my neck. I put some pressure on my wound. I focus the camera back into the tomb to see if I can not see the heart again. I take my flashlight, shine it inside, and focus the camera back inside. And now I only see dust and bones. I shine the light around the tomb, and I can not see anything moving. I walk backward and slip-on Roman's blood. This time I hit my head on the steps. When I wake up, I have a team of people around me while lying in a pool of blood. I look at everyone standing around. Dr. Addison standing over me, asking; "Hey, there you are. Are you okay?" I look at her and say; "Yes. Why wouldn't I be?" "You hit your head really hard. There is even a big bump." Dr. Addison and Ethan helps me to sit up, and I say; "Wait. I saw something. It was moving." She looks at me surprised and asks; "Something moving? Moving where?" "In the tomb." She laughs and says; "You have hit your head really hard. So, you must have hallucinated." "No, I am not. Look at the camera. It is all in there. I am telling you, I saw it." She points to the camera and says; "You mean that camera? It broke, Dr. Andrews. It must have happened when you fell down and hit your head. I am so sorry."
