A deep, resonant voice cut through the silence, making me freeze. When I lifted my gaze, I was met with the sight of Steven, his unique hazel-green eyes capturing my attention immediately.
I instinctively stepped back, only to feel his hand wrap securely around my waist.
"You're listening in, aren't you?" he teased, his lips curving into a knowing smirk.
I tried to push him away, feeling my heartbeat quicken, but he was too strong.
"Quiet," he whispered firmly, covering my mouth with his hand to silence me. His grin widened as he leaned closer, his breath warm against my ear. "Did you come here to spy, or was there something else on your mind?"
