The Ball

"Oh my God! Bessie, your magic cookies are always the best in the world, I tell you ". Evie munched happily, totally forgetting that she had been screaming my head off literally thirty seconds ago. " Well, we should get going or else we will be late and you don't like being late". I suggested to her hoping that she wouldn't look at my face and remember, but oh boy was I wrong. " But we need to add a little touch on your face. I don't want you looking like a helpless Cinderella next to me and making me look like your wicked stepmother ". She said calmly, I guess my Nanny Clara's magic cookies were really magical after all. Evie spent another ten minutes putting the last touch on my face and I dare not complain else I would have my head off. ******* "Oh my f*****ng geez Mel B this place is totally lit". Evie ogled at the castle. " Yeah, I know you've been saying that since we got here". I rolled my eyes at her actions. " Well, you can't blame me dear. This is the only time in a year that I get to see beyond the giant walls of the castle. And as much as I hate to admit it, yeah you're right, we should get inside before the royal trumpet is blown". I had never seen a real castle in my lifetime. The only ones I have seen were the ones in my storybooks. You know the ones drawn in Cinderella and the rest. It feels really great to see one in life. It was just like the ones I had seen in my fairy tales. Elegantly beautiful was the word to describe this castle. Inside was magnificent. It made me remember the parties my parents had thrown every year to celebrate a contract or something. I felt my heart skip a beat and the hairs on my body stand as I felt someone staring deep boring holes into my body. As if manipulated, I turned around and met those blue-black eyes boring holes unapologetically into my soul without turning away after I had caught them staring so intensely. I felt hot and cold at the same time as he watched me. My heart was frantically beating faster and it was as if it would burst out from my chest. Suddenly, I couldn't see anyone in the room. It was as if they just disappeared into the thin air and suddenly he was in front of me staring unapologetically deep into my soul. I felt vulnerable and weak as he moved dangerously closer. My brain screamed danger and for me to run away from him, but how could I? I was rooted to the ground, I couldn't move, it was as if my body was against me. I felt betrayed by my own body. He raised his right hand and placed it on my left cheek. His hand was cold but it didn't stop my body from getting hotter. Then he spoke with the most angelic voice I have heard in my entire existence that sent shivers to my bones. "A las I found you mà cherié". Then he smirked wickedly, making me want to dissolve. " Hello! Earth to Mel!" " What are you thinking of Mel B?" And suddenly, everything was back to normal. It was as if nothing happened. I shook my head at Evie as she stared at me curiously. " Well, no matter, the royal family are about to make an entrance, so don't zone out again or you will miss the biggest event of them all". I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. I looked around but I couldn't find him. Maybe it was my imagination, but it really did feel real and it gave me the chills as I thought of it. The sound of the royal trumpet interrupted my thoughts. The royal family were finally making their entrance and it was nothing different from the fairy tales I had watched. The girls drooled at the prince who looked like a jerk, you know, like those guys who were labelled the kings of high school and did whatever they wanted. The princesses were gorgeous in their ball gowns. They were dressed as elegantly as expected and had their own fair share of beauty from their mother.
