Chapter 4

*Annabeth*

After telling them, I felt relieved knowing that someone would actually try to help me. I also felt scared because I knew Brett would be looking for me. After telling them that I didn't know what to do? Should I stay? Should I go? Jasmine could tell the conflicted look on my face. "Hey, its going to be okay. I promise that if you want to stay we will protect you and the baby," she said to me. I do want to get my life back and have a place safe for me and my baby. "Okay....I do want my life back and a safe place for my baby. I'm going to stay...well as long as Luke is okay with it," I told her. Just as I said that Luke walked into the kitchen.

"Annabeth, I do want you to stay. I just got upset because men like him make me mad," he said to me. Well that made me feel better knowing that I wasn't the reason he got upset and left. "Hey..I like the outfit but, counting this one and the one I had on last night, I only have two outfits. Is there like a*****e around that I could get some outfits and maybe some shoes?," I asked them. "I'll take you into the next town to get some clothing. The shop here in town is closed for a few days.," Luke told me. "Okay let me just go up and get my purse.," I said. I leave the kitchen and walk up to his room to get my purse. I hope I have enough money to buy at least two more outfits. Maybe there is a thrift store around that I can look at.

I was fixing to walk down the stairs when Rachel and Lauren walked out of Lauren's room. "Hey, Annabeth, I don't know your story and in time you will probably hear mine. I just want you to know that coming here had really helped me. Luke and Jasmine are wonderful people. They believed me when no one else did. I how you do stay and keep my old room. Come here and I'll show you around. "Hey Rachel, Lauren, Thank you. I was conflicted at first because people don't believe me. But I feel like Luke and Jasmine is different. I'm going to stay and would love to see the room that will be mine.," I told them. We walk into Lauren's room...well what will be mine. OMG! The room was so big. There was a bathroom and a walk in closet. I couldn't believe my eyes! The best part according to Lauren was the view. Which it was a pretty great view. I could see the pasture with the horses and the barn. I seen a flower garden and another field that had cows. How big was this place? "Oh hey..whenever your ready and want to get your toes wet *wink* ALL the ranch hands come through the barn.," Lauren told me.

Oh my! I cannot believe that she just said that. I don't want a man right now...maybe never. What Brett did to me will take time for me to heal. "umm, okay I will keep that in mind.," I told her. Should I ask Rachel and Lauren how things work or wait for Jasmine and Luke to tell me. What if I am doing Lauren's jobs since she is leaving? What if its to much for me and hurts my baby? Maybe this isn't a good idea after all. "Thanks for showing me my room...well your room. I better head down stairs Luke is going to take me shopping.," I said to them. "Bye! and this is your room!," they said as I walked out the room. I headed down the stairs to the kitchen to see if Luke was ready.

Him and Jasmine was talking and stopped when I walked into the kitchen. I wonder what they was talking about? Was it about me? Did they change their mind because they knew Brett? Did he already find me and they want me to leave? "Annabeth, let's go before it rains. We don't want to be out today and get got in the rain. The weather man said it could get nasty." he told me. We walked ot his truck and just like last night, he opened my door for me. I think that is when I first noticed I might be falling for him. Looking out the window seeing this was a no where place, Brett would never find me or the baby. *Luke clears his throat* I'm guessing you have a lot on your mind. One of those is probably how the ranch works, and the other is when me and Jasmine stopped talking when you walked in. I feel like I should tell you that. ," he said. Well he did ready part of my brain because I did want to know.

"Well the name of the ranch is Saving Grace Point. Grace was the name of one of Jasmine's friends. I will let Jasmine tell you all about that. We get no funding because no one really knows about us. The upkeep of the ranch is divided up between everyone at the ranch plus a few old rodeo buddies of mine. When a woman comes to us, we work with them to find their strength and put that to use around the ranch. Don't worry we give you time to settle and open up to let us help you. When we get back to the ranch if you feel like it I will show you around. If you also feel like it we can see what you can do around the ranch. I don't want to do anything that you don't feel comfortable with. That's how the ranch works, I know its a lot to take in," he said to me.

That was a lot to take in but I still wanted to know what him and Jasmine was talking about. Because if it was about me and not wanting me there then I would stay in the town that we are headed to. "Now about what me and Jasmine was talking about. I think that you should start small on the jobs and just do a little. Becuase I feel like you need that to get your life back. Jasmine on the other hand says you don't need to work because you pregnant and she don't want nothing to happen to you or the baby." he said. Well that was nice of him to think about me in getting independence back and feeling capable of doing stuff. It was also nice to have someone think about my wellbeing and my babies wellbeing. "Thank you Luke, for telling me and for looking out for my mental health. I also thank Jasmine for looking out for my wellbeing and my babies wellbeing. But I agree with you that I can do so jobs. But I'm afraid the only thing I can do is cook and clean. I think Rachel or Jasmine does that." I told him.

Before he could answer he pulls up in front of a*****e. Before I could unbuckle he was already at my door opening it for me. I could get use to this treatment. We walk into the store and a lady greets us, "Hi! Welcome to Mommy and Me Wear! My name is Sam. Please let me know if I can help you.," she says. That is when I realized that he thought of me and brought me to a*****e that sold maternity clothing, baby clothing, even clothing you can wear after giving birth. He is making me fall for him even more. (Yes I know I shouldn't because I have a lot I need to work on.)

He looked at me to see if I was going to get mad but all I could do was smile at him. "I know your getting out of a bad relationship. I didn't want to send you here with Jasmine and something happen. So while we are here I need you to pretend to be mine. I'll explain more at the ranch.," he said. "Umm..Okay sure.." I said. I was more than a little confused but okay. We start looking at the clothing when Sam comes up to use. "Is there anything I can help you find?" she ask. I was going to answer her when Luke speaks first. "We just found out we are expecting. She needs new clothing. What do you suggest?" he says.
