•Outstanding Mates Highschool•
The school compound boasted elegant buildings, basking in the warmth of the early morning coldness.
A note with "Outstanding Mates Highschool" was boldly written on the tallest building, adorned with golden letters that shimmered in the sun's rays.
The well-constructed school looked neat and sparkling clean. Inside the compound, there was a charming garden with beautiful and mouth-watering fruits.
Among the bustling student population entering the school compound was Aaron. He headed straight to his classroom, took out his book, and started to survey them, as class had not yet started.
However, he didn't spend more than a minute reading before dozing off. He hadn't slept well the previous night, likely due to leaping from one place to another in his wolf-beast form as he had no where to stay for the night.
He was still in a deep sleep when he felt a hand touch him, and he woke to discover that it was teacher Nana.
The class was already busy with the first period lesson, indicating that he must have been asleep for quite long now.
"Why are you sleeping when the class is going on?" Nana asked. Aaron yawned and stretched himself but didn't utter a word to her.
With his sudden reaction, teacher Nana suspected that something might be wrong with him, as it was unusual behavior for him.
"Aaron, are you alright? Aren't you the person I was talking to?" she inquired with a calm voice.
Aaron took in a deep breath and opened his mouth to speak, but ended up shutting it as he found it difficult to shift out a statement.
"I would like to see you in my office, Aaron, and try not to sleep in my class again," she said, then continued with the class.
While the lesson was ongoing, Aaron couldn't concentrate at all. The weight of the words he had said to Juan was weighing heavily on his mind. He felt guilty for uttering those statements; he never meant any of those words.
After a few minutes, the first period lesson was over, and everyone left the class for a short break, leaving only teacher Nana, who reminded Aaron to see her at her office before leaving.
•Nana's Office•
Immediately after Nana left for her office, Aaron joined her instantly, and she offered him a seat, which he sat on.
"Aaron, the way you behaved today, that's quite unusual. What's wrong?" Nana asked, placing her hands on the table.
"It's about some personal issues, but I'm fine," Aaron boldly said.
"And you don't want to talk about it?" she asked, to which he shook his head. "No."
"You don't think I can help? A problem shared is a problem solved," Nana said, giving a little smile.
"Not all problems," he replied, causing her to widen her eyes in surprise.
"It's alright. You can still let me know whenever you feel like I can help," she said, swallowing her saliva.
"But... who do you live with? Your parents, or...?" she asked, showing concern.
"Do I have parents?," Aaron responded, leaving Nana confused.
"Orphans has no parents, I'm one of them" Aaron added, nervously biting his fingernail. He actually did gained admission to this school with the help of Juan.
The teacher was left speechless, gazing silently at him. "I'm sorry about your parents. What happened to them?" she asked, clasping her fingers.
Aaron couldn't even remember anything concerning his parents because they died during his birth. As he was told by his uncle: His mother passed away during labor, and his father collapsed upon hearing the news, he was a bad luck to them. That was the only thing he can say about his dead parents.
So as he couldn't remember much about his parents the question Nana asked him reminded him of the day he met Juan instead.
It was like yesterday's incident with Alice. He saved Juan from a rogue attack.
He actually used to live with his uncle but fled from home the day they discovered he was a werewolf. They called the hunters, believing he was a monster. Werewolves were considered as myth by the people, and people believed they didn't exist.
So that day which he fled from home was the day he rescued Juan, leading to their fated mate relationship. He remembered it all but had no idea about the death of his parents, which was surrounded by rumors. Some said they were murdered by a monster, His uncle told him his mother died and his dad collapsed, but he didn't believe it.
His uncle hated him so much and enjoyed making his life miserable, his sadness gives him joy, that's why he is always telling him about his parents died during his birth, in other for him to believe that he is a bad luck right from birth.
So because of that he don't believed his uncle but rather believed that it was definitely a monster which must have been a werewolf murdered his parents and passed the abilities to him because he didn't just became a werewolf all of a sudden. Moreover, he was never told that either of his parents was a werewolf or a monster either.
"Are you there? Hello!" Nana said to Aaron as he was lost in his thoughts.
"You don't want to talk about your dead parents? I'm sorry, but what about your guardian..." Nana was saying, but Aaron cut her off.
"I'm alone now," he said, leaving Nana looking at him emotionally.
"Okay... obviously I can see you are not comfortable having this discussion with me. You are free to leave," she said, sounding a little bit upset.
Aaron stood up, ready to leave. "Aaron?" Nana prompted once again, and he gazed silently at her.
"Whenever you feel like sharing your burden, I'm still available to help," she said. Aaron nodded and left her office.
He went and sat under the flower trees, gazing at their beautiful leaves. Minutes later, he saw Juan approaching and pretended not to notice her.
"Perhaps you were looking for me," Juan said to him immediately she reached, while he was busy admiring the leaves.
"What if I was not?" he asked without looking at her, as Juan took in a deep breath. "Well, I hope you slept well last night?" she asked.
"I'm sure you know that it was going to be a sleepless night for both of us," he replied.
"Look at me," she said, turning his face towards herself and looking into his eyes. "I'm sorry for yesterday," she apologized with a sad tone.
"It's definitely not about you being sorry," he said, gently pushing down her hand from his face.
"About Alice?" he inquired.
"They still came after her last night; the threat was overwhelming," Juan replied, shaking her head in frustration.
"Another group still came after her? I hope they didn't hurt you or her?" Aaron asked, concerned about their well-being.
"No, they didn't," Juan replied.
"How managed then? the last group that I fought was ready to kill her, or you both fled from home?" he asked, and she shook her head.
"Of course not, but it was really a terrible night. You need to see her screaming and calling for your help! Though they ended up freeing us both, but at the cost of my sister submitting herself to their boss within this week, or their return will not be funny" Juan said, leaving Aaron looking at her in disbelief.
