Episode 3:We Saw It Together

1066 Words
Elsa's POV Tension built up in me. I backed away from him and he released my chin. We locked eyes and unsaid messages passed between us. I waited for his next move, hoping desperately that my scream would be loud enough to stop him. But it never came, his expected move. He just walked out on me, yawning lazily. I felt my heart steady as I watched his departing back. The tension in the air subsided, and I felt foolish for thinking that grossly of him. Jethro was rough around the edges, but I don't think he would be brazen enough to molest me. I could still feel the shaking of my hand and feet. I could barely move them. I managed to make it back to my room, learning my lesson the hard way possible. “There are out-of-bound areas in the mansion, do not go there.” I scolded my subconscious mind and collapsed on the soft bed. My mind is laced with thoughts that it shouldn't, how hard I have worked to keep my virginity intact. I wasn't going to end up a plaything for a man like him. The noon sun had intensified outside, and I think it was the best time for a quick laundry. I picked up my few soiled clothes and house napkins that I had gathered the previous day and made for the laundry room. It was as big as our entire house put together, but I couldn't care less. All that mattered was where my peace could be profound. I sat on a comfy stool and started hand washing my clothes while humming my favorite song. I felt my spirits lifted as usual. The strong intensity that the song carried got me overthrown. I poured my emotions into the song and felt the rhythms fall in line. Bliss filled me while my hand worked itself on the cloth stains earnestly. “Hi.” I turned to see Jarvis looking down at me with a soft smile. I was amazed, only this time, his smile carried a hint of sadness embedded in it. *** Jarvis’s POV “Hi,” I had said to her. I felt something twisted in her gaze, as if I had caught her in the middle of a wrong deed, but she tried to mask it. “Sorry to intrude, may I sit with you?” I questioned her politely. Elsa seemed to be dazed by my words, and it took her some seconds before she nodded in approval. I had jolted up from a nightmare, but her soothing voice brought me out of my misery ,so I decided I might need more of her company. “I am sorry about our attitude towards you. I mean my brother and me since you came to the mansion.” I saw a glint pass through her eyes. “You have a lot to apologize for on that one.” Wow! She was feisty too. I like that. I drew the conversation deeper, deep enough to take away the pain of knowing that my ex-girlfriend was at the altar right now taking a wedding vow with another man. She had slammed the betrayal in my face earlier that week, a wedding invitation card with her name on it when I was right in the middle of sealing a multi-billion-dollar deal. Cruel one! Elsa's shyness melted away, as did my formality. I drew the question more inclined towards her, and interestingly, she gave constructive responses that decorated her intelligence. I questioned suspiciously why she had to move to the mansion as my father never mentioned anything about it except his trip with his driver, who was Elsa’s father.I had returned home that day to see the gloomy-looking lady and I noticed she was already getting on Jethro's wrong side. She looked so stunning and simple that I couldn't deny my instant attraction to her personality. But I drew back, I had to. My girlfriend was a jealous lover, and she wouldn't be pleased to see me close to any female, or so I thought, until she shoved her surprise wedding in my face. Elsa told me their rent had expired, and the father was looking for money to complete the payment when my dad told him about their trip. So he had to beg my dad to take her to come stay at the mansion prior to their return, so as not to be thrown out of the apartment or get her hurt by anyone. “Enough about me, is there a problem with you? You seem gloomy lately.” I felt my heart melt, she had noticed me! When everyone else thought I had a perfect life, when no one checked up on me except to do business, when even my twin brother didn't care about me “Yeah, a betrayal that ran deep happened to me.” “Oh! I am sorry about that.” The word had barely left Elsa's mouth when my ears caught it, A feminine soft moan! It intensified dramatically, and I couldn't help but swallow hard, embarrassed by it all. My foolish brother couldn't keep his brothel business out. Now his harlots have the guts to walk in and out of the mansion due to our father's prolonged absence. I could hear Jethro urging the woman, and I closed my eyes. Frustrated, I let out a deep breath and opened them again. I turned to face Elsa, whose eyes were already on mine. My face flustered and so did hers. Coincidentally, we both laughed awkwardly and looked away for a few seconds. She turned to face me again and we both laughed heartily. “Can we be friends?” I asked her quickly. I knew it was impulsive of me, but she seemed to be different. She wasn't desperate to want me, just as most women in my circle do. Davidson's wealth had been a shield for me all this while, so I figured it was time to make a change. “Mr Davidson i….” “Call me Jarvis, that is what friends…..” “I cannot be your friend Jarvis, I am….” “No, you have to be my friend Elsa,” “Why?” She questioned suspiciously. “Because …..” I started slowly and faced her, pouring out all my emotions in my next sentence.
