“Why are you here?” Sophie spit feeling contempt for him.
“To take you away from all of this.”
“Why? Because you think I’m too good for this?”
“Aren’t you?” Titan asked with surprise.
“This is my home. My parents left me this. And you know what, they did the best that they could.”
“Did they? Do you really think that, Sophie?”
Sophie couldn’t answer. Thinking that her parents had done the best that they could is how she reconciled what they had put her through, and she wasn’t sure that she was ready to think anything else.

“My parents couldn’t afford college. They weren’t rich like yours.”
