Chapter 3 Frank

1150 Words
The moment Mom saw him, she rushed at him like a madwoman, ready to hit him. “How dare you come to my house! Why did you treat us like this? We’ve always treated you so well!” “Because of you, my husband got taken away by the police! We’re now burdened with huge debt!” Mom didn’t even get a chance to touch Frank. His bodyguard, who was always by his side, pushed her to the ground without mercy. Jenny and I rushed to help her up, both of us heartbroken. “Frank! How can you let your bodyguard push my mom? Didn’t you say you’d treat her like your own mother?” Frank disdainfully wiped his high-end suit, as if the mere touch from us was enough to disgust him. Seeing him act like this made me even angrier. Finally, I asked the question I had been holding in. “Frank, why?” I really couldn’t understand why he suddenly became so vengeful, like a completely different person. I didn’t understand why the happy little family we had yesterday had vanished without a trace today. Frank seemed to have anticipated my question. He smirked coldly. “Why? This is all because of you! I’m making you experience the feeling of losing everything!” I felt the world spinning around me, and my vision went black. More than a decade ago, Frank’s family ran a small construction company. Due to business competition, my father bought out Frank’s family’s company, but he promised to treat them well. But unexpectedly, his parents, in a moment of despair, jumped off the building, leaving Frank an orphan, and he was sent to an orphanage by greedy relatives. When my father learned about this, he felt uneasy. He spent a lot of time and effort to find Frank in a run-down orphanage and brought him back as my brother. Frank grew up with me. My parents never treated him differently, despite not being his biological parents. They even spoiled him out of guilt, giving him anything he wanted, no matter the cost. There were times when I, their real daughter, even felt jealous of how much they favored him. My father even let him work in his company, learning the ropes of business. But I never expected Frank to use this opportunity to drive our family to bankruptcy. It was completely insane! He was nothing but an ungrateful bastard! “Jessica, I should thank you. If you hadn’t treated me so well and told me everything about the company, my plan wouldn’t have gone so smoothly!” When he said that, my heart felt like it was bleeding! I didn’t want to say another word to him. I just stared at him with hatred. “Frank, you’ve done this to me today. In the future, I will make you pay for it! You ungrateful little scoundrel! There will be a day when you fall, and I will be waiting for that day!” I wasn’t afraid of his power. In fact, I stood tall, glaring at him. I had always been gentle in front of Frank. I had never shown him such a fierce expression. Seeing me like this made him pause for a second, his eyes showing a flicker of surprise. I saw it, and I felt disgusted! If this morning I still hated myself for giving my body to any man other than him, now, I was incredibly grateful to that man for not letting me give my most precious thing to Frank! He didn’t deserve it! What made me even angrier was that Frank was grinning smugly. “Jessica, no matter how much you hate me, you still love me. In this emotional game, the real winner is me!” Seeing his smug face made me sick to my stomach! I used to be a carefree princess, living the best life! It was all ruined by this man in front of me! He turned me into a poor woman! Even my family had become destitute! My father is still in prison, and I don’t know what’s going on with him. The company was swallowed by Frank. The employees who had supported my father through thick and thin were all kicked out by him. My uncles, who lost their shares and dividends, vented their anger on me! My poor family was about to be homeless, and no one was willing to help us. Mom took us to Grandma’s house, hoping to get some help. But we were kicked out by my cruel uncle and aunt, who even mocked us as homeless people! How ridiculous! When my family was rich, everyone came to flatter us. Now that we’ve gone bankrupt, they all avoid us! The three of us, mother and daughters, couldn’t stand this humiliation. We treated them as if they were strangers, cold relatives we had never known! But the most urgent thing was to survive. My father’s savings were frozen by the bank. I was just a college student, my sister Jenny was just starting high school, and Mom was a full-time housewife. We didn’t have enough money to support ourselves. Now, we couldn’t even afford an apartment. We could only eat one meal a day, and it was dry bread that was hard to swallow. When night fell, we could only sit by the river, hoping the time would pass faster. I, who had been a rich princess, never imagined I would end up like this. I hated Frank, but I couldn’t do anything. Then, a few days later, Frank, now the CEO of a multinational corporation, suddenly showed up at our doorstep. I wanted to rip his face off, but Mom stopped me, worried I’d end up worse off. “I heard you three have nowhere to live. How pathetic.” Frank seemed to pretend to care about our situation, but I could feel the mockery in his eyes. “It’s none of your business!” I glared at him, shouting angrily. “Jessica, don’t hate me so much. I’m here to help you. If you agree to be my secret lover, I’ll make sure you and your sister will live the best life!” Frank’s smile made me want to vomit. His degrading words also angered my mother. She covered her chest, almost fainting from the shock. “Enough, bastard! I’ll tell you this... if I have to sell myself, I’ll do it, but I will never be your lover! Every minute, every second with you makes me feel sick! Frank, you are the worst man in the world!” I refused him mercilessly, which only angered Frank more. His eyes burned with rage: “Jessica, don’t be so sure. One day, I’ll make you kneel and beg me! I’m looking forward to that day!” As I watched him walk away, I spat on the ground.
