CHAPTER 5
Helena POV
He then revealed to me that that's exactly what Rose was trying to do to me. She had both of us kidnapped and framed it on me. He showed me evidence. There was also a wedding invitation. David and Rose were getting married.
My head started spinning at that point. I knew he never liked me, but he's getting married so soon? And after what he did? I don't care if someone told him I planned all this, he is the one who chose to believe the person without talking to me and that doesn't change how he treated her during marriage, how he cheated on her, and he saw the miserable state she was in when she was kidnapped, and yet he chose to abandon her. He's no fool, he knew exactly what he was doing.
I gritted my teeth as the memory of that day filled my head and anger began to surge up in me. Why should he be happy, and I'm left with nothing? I wanted the marriage to be annulled as soon as possible, so I didn't even ask for half of his property like I should, but now I don't think that's fair.
I'm going to ruin that wedding. I cannot let him find happiness after all what he's done and since he hates airing his dirty laundry publicly, then that's what I'll do. I'll ruin his reputation and make him regret everything.
As if he could read everything that was going on inside my mind, Blane chuckled softly, then said, “You're going to crash their wedding?”
I gasped in shock, “How did you know?”
He laughed, “Oh dear, you're actually so simple-minded. Now tell me, if you were stopped from even entering the wedding hall by the gate, what would you do? They are not stupid and might have arranged guards on the lookout for you.”
I actually hadn't thought that far, all I was thinking of was how I'd get back at them, but I never thought well about how I'd actually do it.
“I know it's not going to be easy, but from now till the wedding day, I will have thought of something plus I have evidence of his affair and how Rose kidnapped me. I know you have a grievance with your family, but they are still your family and I know you'll side with them regardless of all that you're saying, so I won't say more, all I ask is that you respect my decision and understand…” he cut me off before I could finish.
“I won't side with them,” he simply said.
“What?”
“I said, I will never side with them no matter what you do to them and, contrary to what you said, I want to join you.”
“Really?” My eyes gleamed at the prospect of a supporter.
“Yes, Helena. To be more blunt, I want revenge. Actual revenge and not what you're planning that can later be swept under the rug. I want to bring them down.” He revealed, and I stood their gasping at his words.
“David isn't actually my target, but I could use you as an ally. That's why I'll help you get your revenge and ruin him and Rose, his mistress, completely, while you'll help me get evidence and ruin my stepmother and younger brother.”
“How on earth I'm going to help you out with that?”
“I've tried to get incriminating evidence against that woman, and it has led me to the company. I believe they've disguised some illegal activities within the company, but I'm unable to get my hands on them. I'm sure they've taken extra care not to let me find out. This is where I'll need you. I'll get you into the company, but first, you need to go back to college, finish your education in the field of my choosing and become a transformed woman. A woman that'll be my fiancee, but we won't get married, it's just to cause a stir in the family.”
He continued, “And I also need you to go to therapy and get help in dealing with your emotions. Although I need you for my revenge, I don't want my nephew's actions to ruin you completely and getting revenge is a dark path which you will tread if you do accept it.”
His words were kind and seemed genuine, but like he said, living my life to get revenge is a dark path, a path I have to carefully consider if I want to tread, and he also said I'll be his fiancee. The age difference is something I have to also consider.
“I'm sorry, Mr Blane, but I have to think about this objectively before making a decision.”
“I understand.” I got up from the couch he was sitting and took our plates to the kitchen. I tried to stop him and take over, but he told me to sit and that he'd take care of everything.
I watched the dishes and afterward he prepared to leave, it was already in evening, but I decided to seeing him to his car.
He opened his door but paused, he turned to me and smiled, “Helena, don't get me wrong. I never expected you to accept immediately, it's something you should think over, and I also wanted to let you know that my offer to help you see is therapist still stands whether you accept my proposal or not.”
“And Helena, I think you should also properly mourn the death of your child. Take your time to grief and heal, even though his father was David, I'm sure he would have been happy to be alive just like me.”
As if on cue, my eyes drifted to a mother and son walking down the walkway hand in hand.
A wave of emotions suddenly whipped through me and I decided to be honest with myself. I was very happy to welcome my child to the world that I wouldn't have cared if I had to raise him alone, I would have been happy to have just him by my side.
I looked back at Blane, even though I didn't get revenge for myself, I needed to do it for my precious baby because the truth of the matter is, they both killed my baby.
I gritted my teeth, “I will get revenge.”
